Emeka Okafor

Since the Hornets are probably interested in being relieved of his burden, it is possible we could get him + one expiring for Jrich/Collins or something. Is it worth investigating though? Most people play better with Nash, but the fact that this guy is underperforming with Paul is a bit alarming...

I think both sides could possibly be up for this...
I'd give them Lopez over Collins so they get some young talent back, and shoot for getting a swingman back in the deal.

I thought that's the guy they should have tried to trade Wallace for when they got him after the Shaq trade but thinking back I can understand why they didn't. If they have no plans to extend Amare it wouldn't really make sense to have a guy like Okafor but if they plan to keep Amare he would be a great fit next to him.

Marcus Thornton is a reach, but I could see them giving up Devin brown.
They'd probably be happy to give up Posey, but I want none of that.

Don't feel comfortable locking a guy down for the next five years.

Yuck to Arenas, Yuck to Dally and double yuck to Okafor. We are not winning a championship and signing an old bum makes no sense.

Lol well he's not old...just 27. There is something up with him though; he isn't playing very well. If it's health-related I'm sure we can work our magic, but I'm not sure if it is.

i would love to have him here - he would solve alot of problems on the defensive end.
the main problem is that he could possibly stand in ama´res way on the offense.
if alvin can solve that one it would be aboslutely fantastic to have him here.

Our offense relies on spacing. Okafor really isn't good enough defensively to make up for the imbalances he'd create for our offense. After college I thought he would become a slightly lesser Mourning, but that obviously was not the case.

Okafor's underperforming with Chris freaking Paul setting him up. Bad sign!

Yeah. Could be their offense, but even so, if CP3 can't turn Okafor at least into a fringe all-star . . . definitely a bad sign.

Pretty good article.
One thing about Chris Paul is he hasn't really increased players PER's like Nash does. He's young so perhaps that will eventually change, but right now Nash is king for making those around him better.

okafor and amare together would not work, they both need the ball and they both need the paint
big men like frye, marion, heck even gerald wallace as a rebounder would be better fit next to amare
I would love noah here

Okafor does not need the ball.

what i should have said is he needs the ball in the same areas we want amare to get it - so it becomes a hinderance

i just don't think that Okafor requires touches to be successful. he thrives on offensive putbacks and rebounding.
Shaq didn't work b/c he wanted 15 shots a game and hogged the paint. You don't have to run any plays for Emeka.
Maybe I'm wrong but I really really want a defensive minded center in a Suns uni. There are only a handful I would want, and Noah isn't leaving Chicago anytime soon.

yeah but okafor needs to be inthe paint to get those rebounds and putbacks. when he is in the paint, so is his defender, next thing you know amare has lost all the room he needs to do what he does best .... were better suited with bigs like frye and marion than okafor and shaq for this reason
it does have its drawbacks, especially on defence, but i think frye is about as good as we can hope for whilst still remaining the identity that works for us
any defensive minded centre on D is going to muck things up on O - gotta remember that
