A great trade without losing our top players

Post#1 » by KLEON » Fri Jan 15, 2010 2:42 pm

Suns fans here is a trade that will most definitely help our team:
Rockets get: Earl Clark and Jarron Collins

Suns get: Joey Dorsey and Chase Budinger

I think this trade would help us significantly because I've watched Dorsey in the D League and he's a beast, he's a excellent rebounder which we definitely need, he has size and can put up points. Budinger well we all know this guy is a gunner and he'll be great in the Suns system. Kerr make it happen?

What do you people think?

I dunno, it's an okay trade. But I'd rather have someone with the upside of Clark, and I'm sure right now, the Rockets would rather have someone with the steady production of Budinger.

Agree with justinb80. Unless we're getting a proven stud, I think we're better off betting on EC to be a stud. Budinger is nice but hasn't impressed me. Dorsey is so so.

I'd rather EC's upside.

Rockets need more offense. Budinger is a key offensive player for them off the bench.

I don't see us trading Collins seeing as how we gave up a 2nd rounder(tucker trade) to keep him.

Budinger may contribute more right now but EC has the potential to be a better all-around player.

Clark has no upside as far as we know -- Budinger already has impact. I'd trade EC in a second.

Who are this "we" you speaking off? The coaching staff wouldn't keep playing him if they don't see any upside in him. Glad you are not the GM.

The "we" refers to us, as fans. He's shown us nothing to be impressed with.

So far EC has shown nothing of benefit to the Suns organization -- outside of practice -- which I'm guessing there's he's just a body. I don't see it, and I haven't seen any reason to believe he has an "upside" or any of this natural "talent" you guys keep talking about. Show me. Or let him show me. Which he hasn't.

Fanboys. It's funny how you have nothing to offer on the legitimate end of why EC is any good, or even worth having on the Suns. You can't measure "potential" talent. If he needs to "develop" and get PT, he needs to be in the D-League.

You know why he's still on our roster? ;/ Because we're at the 13 man min...

Just so you know I am a fan of both Chase and Clark, I actually have known Chase for 4 years. Having said that Chase averages 17mpg and Clark only averages 8mpg, which is why their stats are different. Trading Clark for Budinger will just make Budinger mad because he will get as much playing time as Clark here. I honestly do not hate this trade because I am a fan of Dorsey, and would think they would both do well in our system, but I honestly don't think the Rockets would do it.

There’s more to it than just numbers right now man. Yes, chase is getting more mins and is doing better than many thought he would. Clark has more tools, but is not getting time bc he has other veterans who are quit frankly better than he is. He is a rookie, and Chase would not get much mins on this team. In the long run, I rather have EC because he has more upside. Remember, we are 30+ games in, and he is a ROOKIE!

But as I watched tonight’s game and saw dragic finishing the game as the SG instead of barbs or JRich, I thought it was time to look at other options. So, yes, a trade. Many on this forum have suggested going after him, but most have said no way. T-mac.

This is my reasoning.

T-mac is a huge expiring contract. Nash is locked up, and I think amare and management is on the fence about a contract extension. So, we do not have money really to go after a major player in the FA market if Amare jets. I guess we could go after David Lee. But to me, that is a downgrade. Next is, with this roster as is, we are lucky to get to the 2nd rd of the playoffs. I think with his mentality to prove the world wrong, he is going to go Tim Thomas and could step in and play with this team. (it is a contract year for him that is why I used TT). We also have an amazing staff that has done wonders with Amare, nash, shaq, hill and so forth. Yes, this does not help us out defensively, but I think it is a chance. If it doesn’t work out, he is gone and we have cap space for this off season.

So I read this article about the trade idea.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/3205 ... hey-should

They suggest T-mac for Jrich and barbs. On trade checker, I also threw in Chase and it still worked. If it works out, we have a guy at the end of the game who can create his own shot besides the p-n-r with nash and amare. If it doesn’t, oh well, I think it would give more time to some of our bench players in dragic, duds, clark etc.

What do you guys think.

I would take T-Mac/Budinger for Richardson/Barbosa, ditch T-Mac at the end of the season, and pick up a big free agent. We are on pace to not even make the playoffs let alone make the 2nd round, so I really don't mind dipping my feet into the T-Mac pool.
