What will the excuse be for the Grizzlies loss?

Post#1 » by hunterxaz » Tue Jan 19, 2010 1:17 am

Subject says it all.

Note, not your OWN excuse -- simply what a coach would say, or a player would say, or what is likely to show up in the recap tomorrow in AZCentral, etc.

all of the above and we tried our best but they just played better at the end of the game. and they hit the shots that counted towards the end and we couldn't get one to fall in the last minute.

Memphis is better at 4 of 5 positions based on Z-BO owning Amare.

I was at work so I missed the whole game, but I could still put in my input for the game. The Grizzlies own us at every position except the PG spot.

Nash > Conley
Mayo > Richardson
Gay > Hill
Randolph > Amare
Gasol > Frye

Funny thing about this, only Gasol and Gay make more money than their opponent, and Gay only makes 280k more than Grant.

+1. Even their bench is pretty solid with guys like Young, Carrol and Thabeet.

What boggles my mind is Amare was 6 out of 9 tonight. How does Amare get only 9 shots????
Richardson had 11, Barbosa had 16, Nash 17, Hill 11, hell Lopez had 1 more shot attempt then Amare had! It goes back to Nash trying to "create" for others, when that doesnt work, he dumps it off to Amare with little time on the clock and in a bad position. I also believe that at least 3 of his shot attempts came from Dragic. Amare has proven he has the goods, so why is he not our 1st option instead of our last option???

Agreed, he was in foul trouble but he was 1-2 at the end of the first half.. he took 7 of his 9 shots in the second half and made 5 that is pretty damn efficient and he still doesn't get shot.. every ten minutes we would run a pick n roll and it would work and then nash would just try to get barbosa, hill, or jrich to get going. Or he would pick n roll with rolo. I don't think the suns realize how scary amare is for opposing defenders when his game is on fire. When amare is on nothing but fouls and his own team can stop him. He still had 9 rebounds to go along with it and I would put money that if amare got more shots this game he would at least have an extra three or four rebounds.

While I agree with need to use him more, he was in foul trouble today.

I do agree with you too kerrsed that Amare does not get enough touches, and Nash does not give him the ball enough. Barbs is a freakn black hole and the guy cannot pass for some damn reason. Dragic does not give it to him either and forces stupid shots too. At least he can pass at times. If this team wants to win and go further, than they have to go through Amare more and let him dominate like he used too. I believe he still can. But get him going early and then work off of him. They don’t do that. Remember when he was one of the top FT attemps guys in the league? He got the ball alot, and got opposing big men in foul trouble, not anymore.
