Pistons want Lopez

Post#1 » by Piston Pete » Thu Jan 21, 2010 5:41 pm

What could we offer you for Lopez?

Stuckey / Bynum* / Atkins*
Hamilton / Gordon
Prince / Daye / Summers
Villanueva / Maxiell / Jerebko
Wallace* / Wilcox / Brown*

* = player expires after this season

Should have taken my one-time expires immediately after trade offer of Richardson and Lopez for Rip Hamilton and Kwame Brown.
Would have been the best trade for the Pistons but a majority of Pistons fans thought too highly of Rip, like he is worth more than an expiring (Richardson expires after next season, but seriously, no one is going to take Rip's contract for an expiring THIS year).

I'm sure it would, but I doubt Dumars makes our lottery-bound pick available.

Pretty much anyone could be had IMO, although Stuckey would be tough to get as well.

A Suns fan came into our board a while back, and offered something centered around Richardson/Lopez for Hamilton/Maxiell.

I am basically looking to guage what kind of deal it would take to get him to DET.

Well either the Suns are showcasing Robin Lopez to package him in a trade, or they really want to see if this kid still has potential and he might be a no-trade type player now (considering how he has played recently). Unless a really really striking deal shows up.

How would you guys feel about this deal?

Rip/Wilcox/Summers

for

Richardson/Lopez

Rip would gel perfectly next to Nash, and Wilcox would fit nicely into your system. He reminds me A LOT of Amare coming off his screen for easy dunks. I think he'd REALLY benefit a move to Phoenix. Summers is a SF/PF type that can shoot. Thoughts?

The Suns might not want to take on more salary because if they trade Amare they basically would be rebuilding while Richardson expires next season and RIP still has a few years left on his deal.

meh... doesn't do anything for me. while Rip might be nice to have, Lopez is a young, athletic 7-footer that has shown sparks of life consistently for the past 4 or 5 games, given the playing time.

i'd do rip for richardson, though. but you don't want that.

Thats understandable. In which case, maybe 2011 expirings would be good for you guys.

Prince/Wilcox (both expire the same offseason as J-Rich)

for

Barbosa/Lopez/Clark

I would consider Rip/Richardson. Any way you include a pick as incentive?

maybe a second round pick. suns can't afford to give up decent picks and young talent at this point. detroit is in a worse situation at the moment, but the suns are on the verge of being at the same place soon.

That might be the single most lopsided suggestion I read here in a while.

So we give up 2 lottery picks in Clark and Lopez PLUS Barbosa for Prince and Wilcox both of who are not even expiring until 2011 and we get rid of no bad contracts or anything either.

I doubt the Suns have any interest in trading Lopez in his sophomore season after he is finally coming alive. Athletic 7 foot centers don't grow on trees, we needed 40 years to find one that can hopefully play.

+1

If he really turns into something special, which he's acting like he might, I'd rather keep him. It's hard to come by 7 footers who are actually good.

Rip's contract is suicide if we are trying to rebuild, no way dude. I would rather have an overpaid Richardson for one more year rather than a 32 year old RIP for 4 years. Heck no, and there is no way anyone is getting a pick from us anytime soon.

Lol. The Pistons are desperate to make a move. They should have held on to their money for another year instead of dumping it on crap free agents...

Hopefully our FO takes note of that and utilizes any future cap space wisely.

So in conclusion, you guys don't see a possibility of us getting Lopez from you at all?

No interest in a Daye/Jerebko package?

Thanks in advance.
