General update: Amare, Lopez, etc.

Okay, so I just got back from Cambodia to Korea. I have not had time to catch up on all the news and what not that is released so I'll say what I know. Some of it migh be repetitive or reinforce what has already been released.
Team spirits were down after the last few losses. There was a locker room scuffle. Amare was involved but it was mostly verbal and berating. Nothing huge and it happens in all locker rooms at all times. Amare expressed frustratons so look to him to try and market himself as a tradable asset and tries to socialy engineer his own potential destinations or extension.
A first formal meeting was had with Amare and agent. Amare is looking for a deal similar to Gasol. The Suns are tring to find middle ground between that and the Aldridge extension. They are not very close.
Expect to see statement similar to this last offseason with Amare talking about teams he likes. Places he might like to go. While still maintaining Phoenix as an option. This is just how it is because Amare certainly doesn't want to be shipped to certain teams. He will nix certain trades based n extension refusal outright. So don't look for an Pacers, Bucks, Raptors, etc. sort of trades. Big Market teas and contenders are Amare's preference.
Amare is tradable at this point for the right deal and that is spreaing around the NBA at the moment. Amare's trade value is about as high as it's going to go. It remains to be seen what the market will offer him. So far it looks like the market is judging him to be a max player as there will be so many teams able to offer him that; teams that lose the Lebron/Wade sweepstakes. Or Miami adding Amare to keep Wade.
There has been interest in Lopez but he might be playing himself into an untradable position right now if he keps it up.
Interst in Richardson is at a low.
These next few games are important. A slump will mean trades. Good performance will mean the status quo.

I don't know how teams will respond to his money request with the state of the cap over the next couple of years. Personally I wouldn't fool with him and let him do whatever he wants with his player option. Teams are in reduce salary mode. Teams that have cap won't waste it on just one player in Amare.

Am I the only one that doesn't want Amare traded? He should stay.

I think people want him to stay but don't think he will.

So would you say they are leaning more towards trading him or extending him?

He won't stay with what we are willing to pay. We know giving him max or close to max will cripple us and already we are a lower end playoff team with him. It will be hard to improve upon that. Ticket sales are down significantly this year too. I would say I'm about 70 percent we trade Amare this year. 55% before the deadline. The deadline trade scenario though is highly impact with the next games we play before the deadline.

Mary, I honestly don't know. There will be a tight lid on Kerr's conversations. The only time I'll know about what is offered or asked for is if a player leaks it and Amare now knows it's in his best interest to keep his mouth shut unlike this last summer.
I'd imagine we are looking for best deal possible. Be it vets, young players, and/or picks. Keep in mind Nash has a say now.
Me personally...
I would want:
A proven vet (not allstar), one potential developing allstar, and a top ten pick in this year's draft.
David Lee resigned, Jordan Hill, NY 2010 first, +filler

Hmm, thought Mary had asked me what we wanted for Amare. Now I don't see that post. Did you remove it?

Oh yeah my bad
I basically just mentioned, do you think management seems more interested in draft picks + young talent or solid vets?

I'd take that deal in a second, but NY's 1st is going to the Jazz this year no matter what.

Well i made an Amare thread on the trade board, so time to sit back and wait for the offer roll in. I tried to set some guidelines to weed out the "never could happen" trades.

The best deal possible basketball value wise or the best deal possible that saves the most cash?
Yeah that would be a good trade, they don't have their first rounder this year though

If Amare goes, we must re-build (and not pull a Kerr "re-tool"). And if we start to re-build, I wonder how Nash will feel.

Thought Utah owned the Knicks pick in 2010 (that ironically we traded to them)?

They do and we did.

Traxxe do you work with the Suns ? If the Suns trade Amare this year wouldn't that piss off Nash and then he'll want to leave too and there is absolutely nothing out there to replace Amare and I don't think he'll be stupid enough to leave the Suns because their style of play fits him and Nash will encourage him to stay. What I'm thinking is that the Suns should give him a max contract or something close to it and build the team around him.
