If they ever decide to trade Barbosa or Jay he could probably replace some of that scoring but I'm still not sold on him running the teams offense.

It's unfortunate that we are so spoiled with the PG position. I mean, we have been for a while now.

Kevin Johnson
Jason Kidd
Stephon Marbury
Steve Nash

But I honestly believe that Dragic is soaking up more of Nash than we see on a nightly basis. That and Dragic has a few more seasons of mentorship to go. I couldn't be more excited with the grooming or development of Dragic so far.

I'm really rooting for the guy.

Right. Very nice, and while you could argue that the championship Lakers didn't have a PG I think a PG is one of the places you have to start to build a winner.

Dragic having a few years under Nash is invaluable. What better way to start a career? I'm confident that by the time Nash retires, he'll be our guy for sure.

Goran, Earl, Robin are the reason I'm still watching the Suns. Dudley and Amundson too. It's pathetic to see these guys stepping up while guys like Nash/Amare/Richardson/Hill decide when they want to show up for a game.

+1

I like this team for the Rockets-like pieces we have. I'd like to ultimately, upon rebuilding, see a team with THAT kind of focus. The other beauty of that is we can build around some scrappy, cheap pieces and then have money for a couple of big contracts - that actually fit well with the hustle, etc system.

The way I view Nash's "apparent" attitude in certain games is like this:

I regularly play pick-up basketball with a few guys from work. I'm not great, but I'm one of the better regulars. Anyways, I know I can score more than half my teams points but what is usually more of a challenge (and better for the team aspect of the group) is if I don't. If I distribute, set picks, rebound and run the floor and let the other guys get into a rythm, Life is easier all around.

I feel like that is always Nash's objective. Some will argue that he can't play defense, well God may not have given him the lateral quickness of a Paul or Williams, but I do believe he tries. To top it off, he seems the most dejected when OTHERS are not playing good basketball. When he isn't playing well he is clearly mad at himself. And trust me, Nash is one of the most brilliant basketball minds in the NBA right now... he knows when something is his fault, you can see it written on his face.

People point out that it's not good when Nash has to score 25+... I would tell you that is the REACTION TO the poor play of others, not the CAUSE OF. When Nash goes off in the 4th, when he starts hitting those amazing pull-up threes in transition, he's trying to get his team back into it... he's not "padding" his stats.

The self-awareness, self-sacrifice and team oriented leadership are invaluable things that Dragic is absorbing right now. You can't put a price on that kind of an education. Trust me.

Completely agree. I'd love for him to score 0ppg if he can create for teammates and win games.

+1

I couldn't have said it better myself. As a former basketball player myself, I know exactly where you're coming from. You should try and teach this to some of the other people on this board. You are a true basketball mind. Not just a "fan" of the Suns, but know the game. It's nice to see that! ha..

+1 to everyone on here. I'd like to see Nash play 5 minutes less and Dragic play 5 minutes more until Nash retires. Dragic would be playing like 25 minutes or so as the lead point which would get him ready for when he takes over. Isn't that what we did with KJ and Kidd??

Well said - whatever Nash's faults, and while I'm a huge cheerleader for the guy he's a human and and he has them - "not caring" is something you can't seriously accuse the guy of. Or Hill for that matter -
Nash about wore his arse off hustling after Brooks, even though he has zero chance of keeping up with him. In the 4th he was bumping and pestering him but let's face it - Nash was never real fast and he's slower now, at least in NBA terms.

Yeah you can definitely come out and say that JRich, Amar'e, EC, Frye have games where they don't give their all...but you can't say that about Nash, Hill, Duds, Lou and probably Lopez either.

In terms of having a good point guard that translates to a title team I will say this.

It's not so much the position because people who say great points guards don't win titles didn't include Isaiah Thomas Magic Johnson Chauncey Billups etc.

The key to having a title winner is first and foremost great defense.

In terms of offense what you have to have above all else is at least 2 guys who can take their man off the dribble and create any kind of shot they want. That is the most key.

Magic could do that isaiah could do that.

That's what the suns haven't had really ever since I can remember.

That's why I want a dynamic 2 guard to be the central part of the offense going forward with Dragic being a compliment.

Evan Turner would be ideal
