Any indicators if Kerr is going to return as GM next season?

I think he'll be back. He took over a team that is opposite of his principles and philosophy, up against the cap and is now just putting his finger prints on it. I think he'll wanna see his vision through. I think he should as well (I also don't blame him either for certain decisions). Also, just can't see him walking away after everything.

I think Kerr deserves more time as he's made several good decisions after some bad mistakes.

Really, I can only think of three major mistakes he has made:

1) Running out D'Antoni

2) Hiring Porter

3) Drafting Clark

The Shaq trade was D'Antoni's idea, so I won't blame Kerr for that.

But he's made several good decisions.

1) Signing Nash to an extension

2) Signing Hill

3) Signing Barnes

4) Drafting Lopez and Dragic

5) Signing Lou Amundson

6) Getting Dudley

7) Signing Frye

Kerr is a very intelligent guy, so I think he deserves more time.

So...trading Kurt Thomas AND two first round picks doesnt rank on the "major mistakes" list?

I forgot about the Kurt Thomas trade...

Yes, that was also a mistake.

I wouldn't say drafting Clark is his 3rd biggest mistake. Definitely seems premature. But KT trade definitely is in top 3.

To be honest, I'd like Kerr to return as GM and finish what he started. He's made some bad mistakes in the past but most of them, he made with some severe limitations ($arver). However if we look past his mistakes, I think he's done a decent job of laying down the works for our future. He's doing the right thing by trading Amare before he walks for nothing and trying to move JRich with him to give us financial flexibility. He's doing the right thing by demanding more than what Amare is (arguably) worth. He's made some decent draft picks with Lopez and Dragic. You could argue that there were better players than Rolo we could've taken but honestly, outside of maybe Speights, all the other players after Rolo has as much chance to be a bust as Rolo. No players after Rolo had any franchise changing potentials, so Rolo may not have been the best pick but he was a calculated risk, just like every other player outside of Rose, Mayo, Love etc (basically the top 5-10).

That being said, how he handles the Amare situation would most probably decide his fate with the Suns. However, if he doesn't completely screw up the Amare deal but doesn't have his contract renewed anyway, I wouldn't mind him taking Griffin's job as VP while Griffin gets promoted to GM.

I don't get how you can say drafting Clark was a mistake, but drafting Lopez and Dragic weren't mistakes. If we judged Lopez and Dragic solely after half a season, they'd be mistakes too. We'll re-visit Clark after the trade deadline next season and see if we're still talking about him being a mistake.

Nooo I hate Griffin's decision making. Was it IHG or dbdynsty that said a lot of the crazy stuff our FO has done really came from Griffin...

Yes, the board also did the same thing with Dragic, calling him "Tragic"...I doubt anyone still feels that way. I think we've all caught the D'Antoni No Patience for Rookies virus

Even if Kerr is gone, the real culprit still remains: Robert Sarver.

Who knows maybe if he pulls off a good trade for Amare he could be considered a good GM but if he doesn't he could be considered a worse GM so let's wait and see what happens with Amare before we judge him...

IHG and I are close friends in real life. I know him well. Let's just say Steve Kerr isn't as big a problem as Sarver and Griffin.

Lol at the idea that Kerr ran D'Antoni outta town. Kerr suggested playing some defense and Mike D thru a hissy fit. He got out at the right time, he knew the window was closed.

So kinda off topic, but what would it take for Sarver to leave? Is the only way someone buying the team?

I think for some people dont realize how much of a leash kerr has been on. This guy has sarvers money breathing down his back with every decision he makes. Has he made some dumb decisions? Sure, but we have to remember that Kerr cant even think without sarvers Geico wad watching him.
I think this trade will go a long way in deciding If I personally would like to see him back.

Yep. He's part-owner. Someone needs to take his share.

Plus you have to add with the KT mistake, the James Jones and Rudy trade that went down because we had no takers for KT on draft day. All this while keeping Tucker. I think Tucker was a bigger mistake for this team than Clark. Clark at least has size and can defender fairly well.

All in all, we traded three first rounders, Jones and KT, just to save money. And from watching Rudy, he would be huge in our system. We didn't even have to pay him that year, because he stayed in Spain.

Lopez has helped, but there were other good picks at that time. Goran, while playing great as of late, cost us a bunch of money, which will probably cost us some picks down the line, D Blair, and that Hairson (sp) guy. Now the latter didn't do much, but Blair surely made a splash this year.

Overall, I am fine with Kerr leaving. He gutted this team.
