You're talking to a bunch of Suns fans that wanted Amare gone, and still do. There's probably only like 3 Amare fans that actually respect him for the things he does. I'm one. Great character with a big heart. Let's not forget about his times growing up as a kid.. to see this is amazing. He's truly a professional. Let's go Suns.

I for one have wanted an Amare extension all along. There is a reason that other teams covet him. I wish our fans and FO could see it as well.

I think Amare is slightly overrated. Yet I do have a deep respect for him, and the effort he's been putting in, I'm like you, I respect him cause of the things he's accomplished and what obstacles he's had to overcome. And his childhood was bad, and too see him play in the NBA, is phenomenal. Let's go Suns!

Overrated? If he were overrated, he'd have his extension already. I think he is underrated more than anything else. Give him 20 shots a game like everyone else and see what he does!
Resign him already, while we can do it cheaply. If a team is going to pay him max or close to it and we have him under contract, we are able to get something for him if we have to trade. Do it now Kerr!!

By that I mean that he's overrated on the GM board, but yeah I agree he could become the center of their offense!

It's good on Amares part but that doesn't chance the fact he wants the max. The 2004-05 version of Amare, now that was a max player. This current version of Amare is great player but at best a second option on a championship team. It's best just to start fresh with a clean slate, try and have some luck through the draft and hopefully land that #1 guy rather than pay a second option like a #1 guy and be to good to get a high lotto pick and to bad to go deep in the playoffs or even make the playoffs.

Yeah, that's a good idea as well.

Stop making up crap. act like a knowledgeable Suns' fan. Amare does not want the max anymore!!! He is a section option "at best." Does that mean he is close to or even possibly a third option? C'mon dude.

Don't be ignorant. He was just stating his opinion.

Some team will give him the max, why would he take less? Amare doesn't deserve the max but come summer time when all those teams have capspace with only so many free agents to go around, someone will give it to him. As for the second option thing, so you think Amare can be the face of the franchise like Lebron or Wade? If you think Amare is on Lebron or Wade's tier than he's a first option but I don't think so.

? Whether Amare wants a max or not isn't an opinion. It is a FACT. From what I have read on AZcentral, he does not want a MAX, he wants more years. Saying he wants a MAX is infering he is greedy and delusional, thus that turns fans off, so STOP IT!!

Lol, you guys kill me. How did we go from saying Amare is "AT BEST" a second option to saying he is on Lebron's or Wades tier?? You stated at BEST a second option, you didn't say he is a second option. BTW, talk about overrated, whta has WADE done for his team since 05-06? You guys act like Wade is on Lebron and Kobe's level. Miami is trash!!!! Every player needs help.
I don't see maxed Wade leading his team anywhere. maybe Wade should leave Miami and go to PHX or Toronto, why does Amare and Bosh need to leave? Their teams are better than the Heat and according to all of the writers, we have nothing but trash on our team with no future, yet, we are 10 over .500 and the sixth seed.
I can deduced crap well my fine feathered friends. I crack up when fans repeat what they hear and not what they see.

I think the issue is that Amare cannot be the best player on a contending team. If we lock him up to be our best player for then next 5 years, we will not be a contender during that time.

+1.
I was ready for Amare to leave Phoenix, and dominate on another team so Suns fans see that the grass isn't greener on the other side.
And like I been saying, if Amare was the focal point of the offense he would easily be averaging 25 and 10. The fact is, the Suns have a better overall roster than the Raptors and the Heat, so Stoudemire's numbers won't be as inflated as Bosh or Wade.

Stat can be a huge part of a contending team, so long as he's not asked to be a defensive anchor or a consistent rebounder. Pair him with someone who brings that and you've got a scary forntline - if Rolo were a bit better rebounder ... actually, Rolo/Lou/Stat or with EC in there is pretty good.
I really think we have some nice talent - if we had the right shooting guard, we'd be a touch matchup.

Unlike Bosh and Wade, Amare has the luxury of playing with the one of the best make-others-better players (Nash). You can't say STAT's numbers aren't any less inflated than those guys when he's playing with Nash and in a system that inflates your numbers.

I think he averaged 21/9 without Nash.
Amare is much different than a raja bell or a channing frye.

Yeah he did, the last 3-4 seasons he's only played something like 9 games without Nash and put up those numbers. Not saying he can't do it on his own, but Amare has always played with some of the best PG's in the game. Pre-Nash, Amare played with Marbury, who at the time was one of the top PG's. Amare also played almost his entire career under an SSOL system.
Wade and Bosh never played in the type of system that inflated their stats and neither have ever played with a PG of Nash's caliber, or even Marbury's caliber.
It would be wrong to say the SSOL and Nash/Marbury factor was negligible.
