March 1 Free Agents

Post#1 » by alamin330 » Tue Feb 23, 2010 5:47 pm

Does anyone have any ideas of who will be bought out/waived by March 1st? And do the suns have any intentions of signing someone again this year. I was wondering if Larry Hughes will be bought out because I would like the suns to pick him up.

On another note. not to say I told you so, but I was the one who suggested the suns trade for Iggy, butler and blatche back when everyone thought amare was gone for sure. People said Speights is better, I know blatche is better.

I think that Larry would fit well in the Suns.

I'd see Sarver signing another contract as fairly unlikely, unless he feels that Barbs could be a continued injury risk into the playoffs.

Where the heck would we have landed Iggy butler and blatche? a 3 way with philly and washington? I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have turned that down.

Man if the mavs landed haywood and butler for josh howard, who's an expiring contract, maybe we should've asked that for amare and we could've maybe gotten a first round pick back in the future too. I know we have lopez there at the center spot but Haywood is better and maybe we could've had 2 twin towers.

Mavs made out in that deal big time

It would be nice to get Larry Hughes because he seems like a plus one Raja Bell. Then we could eventually start Hughes and have Richardson come off the bench because I think he does a decent job with our bench unit.

I also suggested Dudley for Lebron. People say Dudley is better, but I know Lebron is.

I can't see us picking anyone up unless one of our core guys suffer a major i-word. Outside of a freak accident, we're going into the playoffs (assuming we make it) with this crew.

sunsfever86, talk about Mavs making it out big, J.Ho tore his ACL and is out the rest of the season. If that had happened any sooner, they would've lost a core player and the trade piece that got them Butler and Haywood. Kinda freaky if you ask me.

WTF - you serious?

Think about it, they can waive Griffin for free now can't they because his money's not guaranteed.

Hughes>Griffin

I'd much rather get Gooden if he got bought out

Gooden would be a great piece for the Playoffs.

Hughes, eh, I hate him. But even putting that aside, it doesn't make sense to bring him in unless he'll be getting upwards of 20 minutes per game. You sign him if you get thinned out by injuries but if Barbs heals up we are LOADED at the 1 guard/2 guard flex. You really think with Nash/Dragic/JRich/Barbs we need another guy in the mix who will not be happy being 5th in that rotation?

I am confident that swapping hughes in for Griffin will net us a higher amount of games lost.

Hughes has huge personality drawbacks, but he can handle and defend on the perimeter, which we still desperately need. If Barbosa isn't back at full strength we will need someone in the playoffs in case Dragic has a hard time with the playoff pressure.

Not fully on board with this, but lets try to look at some of the positives of the statement. It has some merit.

Yeah but Hughes' personality drawback is that he will not want to be the 9th man in the rotation or be there "just in case" Barbosa goes down again. He's hard enough to handle when you DO have the minutes for him. I'm with WTF in that adding him would decrease our winningness.

I'd sign him so that LAL couldn't get him. Other than that I prefer all of our guards over him.

Hughes is a form of NBA cancer. I don't want him near the team. He have enough moron on the team in jrich.

Every team Hughes had played for had no veteran leadership, i think he'd be fine here. We should sign him because our bench is thin right now and he'd be our best perimeter defender. We need some D for the playoffs.

^Exactly why I think Hughes would be okay in Phoenix. We have enough veterans to keep him in line. Or hope that Eddie House gets waived or bought out of New York and the Suns could sign him. Though he wouldn't get much playing time once LB gets back and we have a full healthy roster. Would still like him for his pre-game tactics.

I wouldn't mind Hughes here as a spark off the bench. I mean he can't be worse then Griffin right?
