Did anyone else get this email from the Suns?!

Post#1 » by Itmotep » Fri Mar 5, 2010 10:10 pm

I signed up for the Bounce with the Suns promotion and received this today!
The prize is a road trip w/ the Suns valued at like 10k or something. Basically dribble till no one is left dribbling. Can run like 24+ hours

Congratulations on being selected to participate in the 2nd Annual Bounce With the Suns dribbling competition! We look forward to an exciting day this Friday, March 12th, as we all help to raise awareness for the Health & Wealth Raffle, which supports research, medical education and patient care at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute.

The dribbling contest tips-off at 6:00am on Friday, March 12th and details of your participation as a Bounce with the Suns dribbling contestant are listed below. Please confirm your participation by responding to this e-mail & we look forward to meeting you next Friday!

· Please arrive by 5:45 a.m. with personal identification to the US Airways Center, this Friday, March 12, 2010

o The dribbling starts promptly at 6:00 a.m

· The competition will take place on the Paseo, which is located on the east side of the arena

· Parking will be provided in the Jefferson Street Garage beginning at 5:00 a.m. for a discounted rate of $5

o The garage is located on 3rd Street, just south of Jefferson Street in downtown Phoenix

· Upon registration you will be required to sign a release waiver

· The Health & Wealth Raffle representatives will provide you a t-shirt to be worn during the competition

o You will be provided a contestant number to display on your shirt

· Basketballs will also be provided

· The duration of the competition will be held outside

o You could be in the sun for the first several hours, but the early morning and later evenings have been cooler, so dress accordingly

· Contestants will be offered one strictly-timed, five-minute bathroom break per every two hours

· Food, snacks and water will be provided throughout the day, but you are also encouraged to pack a lunch

· Contestants must dribble continuously with either hand and are responsible for their own ball and dribble

· Contestants may sit or stand, eat or drink, as long as the dribble is not interrupted

· Contestants may not attempt to disrupt the dribble of other contestants and could be disqualified for doing so

· Contestants may be asked to be interviewed while dribbling, but this is not a requirement and is not intended to disrupt dribbling in any way

· Good sportsmanship and fair play are required, as contestants will be representing Suns fans around the world, who will be watching on Suns.com

· The Phoenix Suns and Health & Wealth Raffle reserve the right to change the rules at any time

o Decisions by the Phoenix Suns are final

They did this at the end of the last season, they were playing a live feed of it on suns.com all day. The person who won dribbled for 15 hours without stopping. The prize is nice but not worth the pain.

I was wondering initially how one would go to the bathroom but I see that they do give you official breaks. I thought maybe you had to enter the bathroom whilst dribbling or something.

I'm in pretty good shape so I think I will be ok! I know I can last till the evening unless I bounce it off my foot or something. I just hope a bunch of non ball players are there LOL , but I highly doubt that :) oh well, I been playing for16 years, so :). If anyone watches online I'm gonna be wearing an
orange head band and orange sweat band on my left arm :)

Bring a lawn chair and some shades and sit back and relax, I'm sure it's not against the rules because you can still dribble while sitting down right?

I'd only do it if they gave out 10,000 dollars. The team trip is cool but wouldn't be something I'd consider worth my while to win.

think the road trip is way worth it... You get to fly on their plane with them and what not, once in a lifetime. And I get to take vacation from work and get paid and just chill at the arena, so worth it. :)

Once in a lifetime opportunity man. Win it. I would love for a shot at this, but im not sure I could last 15 hrs or so doing that. That is why I would sit once in a while, stand and dribble, walk around etc. to mix things up and so forth. Good luck and let us know how it turns out for ya.
