Three teams to beat

Denver, Dallas, and Utah are all 6 1/2 games back now, which means we if we play well we have a decent shot at home court advantage since we only have to make up those 1 1/2 games against one of these teams. Who do we want? Had a very solid showing against the Jazz the other night but for some reason I can't help but want the Mavs.

Out of those 3 teams, Denver has hardest schedule to finish up the season with none of those teams below .500. But they are also at home for most of those games and they are solid at home. The teams Utah plays aren't as hard as the teams remaining on Dallas' and Denver's schedule but most of those games are away and Utah are a .500 team on the road. Dallas's remaining games aren't bad and they are on the road only half the time.

I think Dallas should stay in the top 3, probably stay 2nd in the West. Depending on how well Utah plays on the road they could move up to 3rd. I think out of those 3 teams, Denver would be the first to drop out of the top 4 if we keep winning.

I'm thinking it will round out like this:

1) Lakers
2) Mavs
3) Suns
4) Jazz
5) Nuggets
6) OKC
7) Blazers
8) Spurs

Which would be phenomenal.

Denver and Dallas are both on losing skids. Us and Utah may be the ones scrapping for the 2 and 3 seeds.

I love the western conference! Aint decided til the very last game every year!

I love how Utah is our last game of the season too. Part of the year NBA fans wait for all year long.

I just had a look. Dallas has the tiebreaker against us, and the last two games of the season are against Denver and Utah, which means we could steal the tiebreaker from them. 1.5 games isn't that much to make up, especially if those teams continue their little skids. Our remaining schedule has quite a few teams we "should" beat, but are on the road, which will hopefully allow the team to move up. Once we move into that 2,3,4 group of teams, anything can happen as the season ends.

Then I read the date...

Just look at the loss column, only thing that matters right now. With a little help from Indiana and/or Toronto we can be tied with Utah and/or Denver in the loss column, now that would be amazing!

Mr. Sheridan ... wow, my man. How's that prediction of the Clippers and Hornets pushing the Suns out of the playoffs working out for you?

EDIT: He sure got one thing right!!!!

Top 3 seeds go to division leaders so that ain't happening.

They changed that rule after the 06' playoffs. In 2008 the Hornets and Spurs finshed 2 and 3 in the West... http://espn.go.com/nba/standings/_/year/2008

I think division leaders are just guaranteed to be in the top 4

Forgot about that. Hopefully Suns can move up. I think Nuggets are a good bet to fade down the stretch, uncertain about Mavs/Jazz.

Suns on a 14-3 run again, matching their fire from the beginning of the season. Have the longest active winning streak. All players are healthy. Barbosa is back and doesnt seem to have any ill effects.

Good time to be a suns fan.
