Gary Shaw resigns from EliteXC

Post#1 » by CPT » Thu Jul 31, 2008 2:50 pm

I know a lot of people here dislike Gary Shaw, so I thought this would be of interest:

According the latest filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission from Pro Elite Inc, Elite XC Live Events President Gary Shaw and Executive Chairman of Pro Elite, Doug DeLuca, have resigned from their positions in the company effective immediately.

Both Shaw and DeLuca will remain on with the company in a consultant’s role that will pay them a salary until the contract ends in 2009.

Gary Shaw had been the public face of Elite XC since its inception, but he has seen a diminished role over the past few months. He had already announced a reduced role in the company due to the constant travel involved, as he is based on the east coast and the Elite XC offices are in California, but that he would still be included in all Elite XC business.

Sounds like he's not all the way out, but he'll definitely have less influence, and won't be the public face of EliteXC, which is a good thing for them.

Eh... I am disappointed... this means he is going to focus more on boxing.

I don't have high hopes for EliteXC, even though this is a good move.

Shaw is a scumbag Boxing promoter and I am glad he is gone. Because of the CBS deal EliteXC has a chance to do big things, but they need to go out and get some more name fighters. EliteXC should have immediately gone out and bought the IFL and brought in their top fighters. Guys like Heiron, Schultz, Andy, Fabiano, Roy Nelson, and Chris Horodecki would have given the EliteXC much needed depth.

Then they should have gone out and nabbed a couple big name fighters like Tito or Arlovski.

They still have a chance to get some of those IFL guys. As far as big name...EliteXC and Tito seem like a perfect match. He needs to be a big fish in a small pond and EliteXC needs a better face than Kimbo.

I bet Arlovski will be back in the UFC within 2-3 fights. If he fights and beats Fedor, he will demand big bucks, and Dana will put him against Nog. If he loses to Fedor, he will likely face Barnett, then Affliction will be done.
