Sept 6th B.A.D.: Diaz/Katsidis, Barrios/Juarez

Post#1 » by cowboyronnie » Tue Sep 2, 2008 1:50 am

LONE STAR FAVORITES JUAN DIAZ AND ROCKY JUAREZ STAR ON THE NEXT BAD

In the evening's main event, two former world champions - Houston's Juan Diaz (33-1, 17 KOs) and Australia's Michael Katsidis (23-1, 20 KOs) - meet in a scheduled 12-round, 135-pound contest. The engaging Diaz became a world champion at age 20, thanks to an exceptionally quick pair of hands. Outside the ring, Diaz is a college student, a community activist and one of the city's most celebrated personalities. With an extensive resume of thrilling fights, Katsidis is an exciting, all-action fighter who has scored 20 knockouts in 24 bouts, forging a reputation as one of the biggest, most relentless punchers in the lightweight division.

The evening's co-feature highlights two ambitious contenders, as Houston's Rocky Juarez (27-4, 19 KOs) squares off against hard-punching former champion Jorge Barrios (47-3-1, 34 KOs), of Tigre, Argentina, in a 12-round junior lightweight bout. Juarez is a 2000 Olympic silver medalist and hometown favorite looking to rebound after losing to Juan Manuel Marquez last November. Barrios is an experienced and exciting fighter who is hungry to regain his title.

Lots of news coming out as well about the distractions for Diaz before the fight with Campbell.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Daiz will get the TKO by cuts...

Juarez will get the late KO or UD.

It will be a fun night of boxing.

Good lord that was perhaps that ugliest TKO that I have seen. My friend who is an RN had trouble looking at it.

I need to marry her one of these days...ala my best friends wedding. A chick who actually sees boxing... :D

Barrios had one of the sickest cuts I've ever seen.

Great card. Some questionable judging, lol but overall very good fights.

I dont know how Katsidis/Diaz fight was even debatable. I scored it a pretty lopsided decision for Diaz. Gave Katsidis 3 rounds. Overall, great action fight and Diaz really impressed me with his handspeed, workrate and most importantly defense. For him to go 12 rounds with Katsidis and not get hurt is a huge accomplishment.

Wow Barrios fight was nasty. But man the end of the fight was fantastic. Juarez is not one of my favourites though. He let Barrios get the best of him for the most part and was on the verge of losing a decision to a guy he should have manhandled in my opinion.
