Noons turned down Diaz but I dont think hes turned down any other fights. In fact, hes called out some fighters who at this point are more dangerous than Diaz.

Diaz beat who EliteXC put in front of him.

KJ Noons refused to do so.

Can't make it much simpler than that.

LOL @ Noons calling out Alvarez when he knows there's no way of that fight materializing in the near future. When EliteXC folds and Noons is a free agent, how many legit organizations are going to want to sign him when they know he's this big of a headache to manage? Not fighting on that Oct. 4th card is career suicide, IMO.

cbr, I think you're talking about his fight with Jeremy Jackson, when he was like 19, and whom he beat afterwards. Twice. The Riggs fight and the Karo fight he definitely won. Sanchez and Sherk were losses, I'll admit. Though neither guy really hurt him or ever had him in trouble.

Diaz is not very good. Hes a horrible striker with absolutely no KO power. The only great aspect about his game is his BJJ. Hes a bad wrestler, bad striker.

What? Outside of the one power punch Gomi landed, I can't think of one time Nick has been hurt or in trouble of being finished in his career. Most of his losses have come through controversial decisions when he was a really young guy. He's won 8 out of his last 9 fights and only lost the 1 due to cut. He Gogo'd the #1 lighweight in the world. Please stfu.

pugilistfan wrote:Noons turned Diaz's face into grinded up burger meat, stuffed his takedowns and put on a boxing clinic on Diaz.

He looked worst after the Gomi fight AND he got surgery to remove the scar tissue. Diaz got two takedowns. He'd eventually work his sub game.

pugilistfan wrote:His cardio would prove to be too good for Noons? LOL, thats laughable.

Diaz is arguably the best conditioned fighter in MMA and a guy who will always press the action. That spells trouble for a guy with no ground game in a 5 round fight. Even when he took Noons best shot he was still coming forward. Did you not see how Noons celebrated when he got the cut victory? One of the saddest things I've ever seen a pro fighter do. He knew he wasn't going to finish Diaz.

Diaz finally got surgery to remove the scar tissue. I don't think he's been opened up in the Denny or Inoue fights. Face it, Diaz will eventually get the takedown, pass his guard, mount him and TKO Noons.

pugilistfan wrote:Noons would stop Diaz most likely by cuts because Diaz cuts easily. If not, he'd KO him in the early rounds.

Gomi the #1 LW in the world. HAHA. Gomi is nowhere being the best LW in the world. Great submission but Gomi was absolutely exhausted and that fight was probably the sloppiest fight I have ever seen. You couldnt pay me to watch that fight again.

Diaz has wins over Aina, Corbrey, Denny, Inoue, Gomi, Neer, Steinbress, Tibau. Those are the 8 wins you're referring to? Give him credit he did win but Neer is an UFN fighter, Gomi is a top 10 LW and Tibau has lost everytime hes stepped up in competition. Whether it be Stevenson, Griffin etc. His most notable wins are over Terry Etim.

Diaz is a non factor at his division. Hes not even top 10-15.

I agree, Noons doesnt come out like Roses here either. But the point is Diaz has acted like such a baby with absolutely no class that for EliteXC reward him a title shot is ridiculous. Him and his brother are the two biggest tools in the sport of MMA.

Im just sick of the Diaz brothers.

Now I wouldnt mind if Diaz fights Noons. Noons will beat him again and ill enjoy it even more than I did last time.

Don't "HAHA", buddy. Gomi has definitely BEEN the best LW in the world - IMO top 3 pound-for-pound in the world just 2 years ago. Kawajiri (by KO) and...uh...that badass Brazilian dude in the same friggin night of the GP finals. Plus finishing Mach in the first (or second or something) and Ishida in a matter of seconds. Those are some great opponents - he all KTFO.

He just tore through Pride and when his stand-up was on for that couple of years, he was the most exciting fighter in the world - just walking everyone down like it was nothing.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Yeah, really.

He's still #2 or #3 at the lowest, and that's with the Diaz "no contest." Some people would argue he's still #1, and I think most would argue he was at the time of the fight with Diaz.

That being said, I don't think Diaz is some kind of unstoppable juggernaut, I just think he is better than Noons, and wins a fight between the two 7-8 times out of 10.

In terms of being beatable, most top tier WW's and LW's can decision him, IMO. I just don't think anyone at those weights has the power, technique and ability to finish him. Most of the top LW's/WW's go to decisions it seems, anyways.

- NOONS TURNS TO BOXING WHILE WAITING ON ELITEXC
Friday, September 19, 2008 - by Damon Martin - MMAWeekly.com

It has been a very tumultuous summer for ElitleXC lightweight champion K.J. Noons, who successfully defended his belt in June, but since that time has been embroiled in a war with the promotion he currently represents.

The champion has continued to train and work towards another fight, but his next battle will be in the boxing ring instead of mixed martial arts.

“I’m actually just training a lot right now. I’m actually getting ready for a boxing fight next month,” Noons stated in an interview with MMAWeekly Radio. “I’ve got to stay busy doing something, I can’t just sit on my butt all day long.”

When the Hawaiian first signed on with EliteXC it was under two different deals that would keep him active in both boxing and MMA, but that agreement has not been met according to Noons.

“I did have two contracts, one was boxing and one with EliteXC, but they didn’t give me any boxing fights either,” commented Noons. “So they breeched that, and now I can kind of go out and box on my own.”

His next boxing match will likely take place in the San Diego area where he will compete at 154 pounds. But what about Noons and his future in MMA?

While vague in making any specific statements about his future, Noons seemed to indicate that he could be fielding potential offers from other suitors, but couldn’t go into much detail because of legal reasons.

“I’m still with them, I still have the belt, and I still owe them fights,” Noons said. “I’ve pretty much already said my peace. I mean I could have kept on going on and said more things of what I’m kind of tired dealing with them, but I am with them, I do owe them some fights.

“I’m not totally separating myself from them, but I’m just going to do what kind of makes most sense for me so right now, it’s just to box and just stay in shape and whenever a good fight comes along or the best offer for me, you know I’m going to take that.”

The fight that EliteXC has been pushing for Noons is a rematch against Nick Diaz, but in the end, money could be the final factor in putting the fight together.

Still, Noons doesn’t understand why Diaz, who recently argued about his own pay scale, should get the rematch and still make more than the defending champion.

“Tell him to put his money where his mouth is. Put his money up if he wants it so bad, if he’s such a warrior,” Noons stated about Diaz. “He was just (expletive) about how much he got paid on this last CBS card. He’s getting paid three times more than me, how do you think that makes me feel?”

It also seems that the EliteXC champion has seen the other Diaz (Nate, who currently fights in the UFC) talking about him and has no problem with that challenge either.

“If Dana (White) is listening, I wouldn’t mind fighting his brother too. I’ll get them both (expletive) plastic surgeries,” Noons said emphatically.

According to Noons, EliteXC has not contacted him recently trying to find a conclusion to this ongoing saga, but he remains hopeful that a deal can be reached.

“Hopefully it gets worked out,” Noons commented. “Hopefully, they want to work with me and treat me right. I’d be more than willing to fight with their company. It just has to make sense.”

LOL @ him calling out Nate Diaz now

And then this wonderful piece of information comes out....

http://news.proelite.com/stuff/blog/127 ... IGHT_TITLE

ELITEXC STRIPS KJ NOONS OF LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Belt Taken Away For Refusing To Fight Nick Diaz

LOS ANGELES (Sept. 19, 2008) – KJ Noons of San Diego has been stripped of his EliteXC lightweight title. The announcement was made Friday by EliteXC Head of Fight Operations, Jeremy Lappen.

The foremost reason EliteXC is taking this action, Lappen said, was due to Noons’ reluctance to defend against leading 160-pound contender Nick Diaz of Stockton, Calif.

“We are stripping KJ of his championship belt for refusing to defend against Diaz,’’ Lappen said. “It’s a very unfortunate situation but we cannot have belt-holders who refuse to fight the top contenders. We want champions who will fight anyone, anytime, anyplace. That’s the mentality all champions should have.

“I feel very bad for KJ because I like him a lot on a personal level and have always thought he could be a big star. He’s charismatic, has a very exciting fighting style and is a top level fighter. So I’m obviously disappointed that he has chosen to take this stance.

“I don’t understand why he would turn down a chance to be a headliner on CBS on Oct. 4. KJ then turned down the fight again when we offered him a headlining spot on our next SHOWTIME date against Nick. From my view, it is a fight against a top-named opponent in Diaz (someone who beat the No. 1 fighter in the world in his weight class), a fighter KJ has bad blood with and a fight the fans really wanted to see. It seemed like a great opportunity for KJ to me.

“Personally, I do not think it was a smart career move, but I’m sure he sees it differently. KJ has two more fights remaining on his contract, so we are still looking forward to having him fight for us again soon, but not as our world champion.’’

EliteXC will announce a fight for the vacant lightweight title in the near future, Lappen said.

Hahahahahahaha.

Got exactly what he deserved.

Hahahahahahaha.
