Re: Pavlik-Hopkins
Horrible display from Pavlik and his corner. Hopkins just broke him down each and every single round. Pavlik's corner did nothing to ease the slide.

I'll say this...that's not the same guy from the Calzaghe fight.

I think a lot of boxing fans are asking themselves this, including me. I'm shocked. I never thought Pavlik would knock him out but I did think Hopkins could make it close. Hopkins didn't even make it close, he blew him out. Great performance by Hopkins as Pavlik had trouble with Hop's style.

Wow...
Hopkins turned in an all time great performance...
He won every round in my card.
I was way wrong.
I am at a lost for words....

BHop to Pavlik at the centre of the ring after the fight: "The only stuff you need is the slick stuff. Kelly, you fight like a black fighter, from a cultural stand-point. You get that slickness together and bend your damn knees, like your coach was saying, you will be one bad son of a bitch. I'm a real dude from the streets but I'm not a niqqer. (???)"

I wonder if they don't need to bring someone else in for his camp. A lot of ideology preventing that. Actual blue collar loyalty type issues. The dude still like paves driveways full-time or something, what's his name - the trainer.
160 vs 170 could be a huge issue. That ten pounds on a frame like Kelly's with straight punches is a big, big deal.

Re: Pavlik-Hopkins
I was surprised but not really that surprised. I always thought Pavlik was a guy that Hopkins would wipeout easily if he was younger. Now I realize that he's a guy that Hopkins could probably wipeout no matter how old he is. Saturday's fight was Hopkins-Trinidad 2.
The weight may have been an issue, but I don't think it was that big of an issue. Pavlik had nothing on Hopkins. Pavlik's MO is to back up his opponent and pound them into submission. He didn't and couldn't do that against Hopkins. Once Hopkins took his Plan A away from him, he had no clue what to do.

Re: Pavlik-Hopkins
Pavlik had complained after the fight at 166 (168?) against JT that he couldn't shoot the double jab very well. That's exactly what his corner was screaming at him to do all Sat night. Hopkins was "timing" his 1-2s. So I think weight could well have been an issue.

I think the weight issue had alot to do with it upon reflection. I think he doesn't know how to bulk up correctly and retain his quickness and power. He prolly walks around at 175 and to just lose 6 pounds from you walking weight seems like it isn't ideal. We all know how **** Oscar looked at 160 and he usually walks around at 165.

He's dropping to 147 his next fight though. Hmm...that's a huge dip for him. Then again, Manny's moving from 135 to 147 (although he did rehydrate to 147 during that Diaz fight, but the new catch weight may be too much for him).

I don't think that it is a big dip for Oscar. He said he was 151 during the Marquez/Casamayor fight. In fact if you see his interview with ESPN he looks skinny and in shape. During the pay per view he sat next to Hatton and was significantly thinner. Hatton when he is not training for boxing gets up to 180 in his 5'6 frame. I consider that mind boggling given that I am 6'0 and I have never been near that weight. I have no doubts that Oscar can easily make 147. If Hatton can sweat it out to make 140... Oscar can eat cake during the weigh in and make weight.
I want Manny to win. He seems to be the next uberstar for boxing if he wins vs Oscar. Boxing needs a figure like him as the face of boxing. Everyone likes him. He is a modest guy who fights entertaining fights. No one can say that they were ever bored of seeing him.

Hopkins!!!!!!! Wooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! X
Here's hoping that Roy Jones beats Joe Calzaghe and then Hopkins beats Roy Jones next followed by Hopkins beating Calzaghe in a second fight..........thus avenging his losses to these guys. I know Calzaghe has ruled out giving Hopkins a rematch, but if Roy beats him and a fight is set up between Roy and Hopkins, where Hopkins wins, Calzaghe and Hopkins II is still a possibility.

I think it was, "but I ain't ignorant." Basically telling Pavlik that he may be from the streets, but he ain't ignorant and that he knows what he is talking about when he said that he sees the potential in Pavlik to be a badass boxer.
