Makes it more fun than just picking the winners. Most people know the winners off the top of their heads.

Solid choices. If GSP had fought more than twice this year, I would likely have gone with him. He has a chance to be the 2009 front runner here in like a month.

Alves went from a nobody to the #2 fighter in his weight class this year. And he went through Koscheck, Hughes, and Karo to do it. That is more of a breakthrough than Lesnar IMO. Though it is sure hard to argue Brock.

I thought your choices were all solid, however I too would've went with GSP for fighter of the year. Not trying to be a homer, I just thought he was more dominating against a higher level of competition this year. GSP beat Serra for the belt, then dismantled the #2 WW in the world Jon Fitch with a terrible beatdown. Plus, he blew threw Matt Hughes on Dec 29.

In comparison, Andy was also impressive beating Dan Henderson (ranked #2 by many at the time). I don't give him as much credit for beating Irvin (not a top tier fighter regardless of weight) and his fight against Cote was uninspiring.

Not saying GSP is the better fighter, just more deserving of the Fighter of the Year.

Also, I loved Ishida's armbar at Strikeforce. Tough choice though as Hazlett's sub was awesome too.

I responded to your thread, but for whatever reason it didn't catch on. Consider this a 2nd chance. :)

Arizona Combat Sports had a great year. If there was an award for Breakthrough Camp I would give it to them. A lot of good young fighters out there.

Carlos Condit just moved to Az to train with us and Thales Leites who visits alot is going to train full time with us for his fight with Anderson Silva. Also if you look at an old thread I started long ago I told you guys about Bader before the TUF season started. Now be on the look out for Steve Steinbeiss he got his first UFC fight coming up in Feb, he has some of the nastiest kicks you'll ever see.

Best Fighter: Torres
Best fight: Torres/Maeda
Best Sub: Hazletts shoulder lock
Upset: Mike Brown/Faber
Comeback: Mir (landslide)
Breakthrough: Lesnar (another landslide)
Biggest Story: The fall of Kimbo, I mean EliteXC.
Best camp: My heart screams AZCS but I give it a tie, ATT had a good year as well.
