Forrest Griffin vs. Thiago Silva at UFC 101

Post#1 » by CPT » Tue Mar 17, 2009 6:25 am

It's a bit early to be talking about this card, but it's already shaping up to look pretty good.

Randy Couture is going to fight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at the event, which is the best fight for both guys right now, and one that we should see for history's sake.

Now I'm seeing that Forrest Griffin is going to make his return against Thiago Silva on this card. I think this is a great fight for both guys. Maybe a little tough for Silva coming off a loss in his first real test, but it will still help give him a place in the division. If he can't beat Forrest either, he doesn't belong in contender talk, but if he can, then he just looked bad against Machida, which happens to, well, everyone who fights Machida.

Silva looked terrible against Machida because he was tailor made for Machida, and Silva just isnt very good. On his feet hes a punching bag with eyes, and although he may have good BJJ, the guy has mediocre takedowns. If you're a ground guy with bad takedowns and no boxing ability you're screwed.

Griffin is a tough, durable fighter whos decent at everything. Griffin should win this and the UFC knows it.
