I don't think you should pick fights with an amateur boxer old man.

I just fooling, guy. I turned 50 this week. I have to work my arse off just to keep from becoming pathetic.

I'm a boxing fan, really, but haven't kept up with the sport in any kind of in depth fashion for awhile. As for MMA...I didn't really like it at first, and still not sure how I feel about it. I just keep getting sucked into it on a few of these cable channels while I'm crashing out.

Where do you box out of, young guy? What weight classes do you work in? I'd be interested in hearing about this.

I boxed a few amateur competitions when I was teenager here in Texas. I can't believe I used to be able to make lightweight (132 lbs) back when I was in highschool and that was around 10 years ago. Eh... we were all skinny back in highschool.

I have never really gotten into it(MMA) but I have grown to appreciate it as much as other people.

That's cool. Boxing was in my family, but it kind of stopped with me by the time I was about 14 years old. To be honest, I've got a glass face and skin that tears like wet paper. I used to be a big fan of boxing. Nothing quite like a big fight between two great fighters. I think that was my favorite, or close to favorite single event thing in sports.

To this day, I still don't think I've ever seen a bigger one time event in sports than Ali/Frazier 1. I was just a kid, but what a hype that was, so much anticipation you almost couldn't believe it was really going to happen. If that fight had had today's hype machine...I couldn't even imagine what it would have been like.

Anyway...that's interesting. Was it Golden Gloves? 3 rounders I imagine.
