GSP Talks Anderson Silva

Post#1 » by The Flying Gent » Fri Jul 24, 2009 2:50 am

“If I fight Anderson Silva one day, if this fight happens, I’m going to take an extra month to make sure that my weight is at 200 pounds minimum. I want to get bigger and I’m going to take some extra time to do that because if I do it I want to do it well. And if I do it I want to win … there is only one thing on my mind. I’m not going to do it just to try. If I do it it’s to win. It depends on the timing — right now is not good timing for me, but maybe one day it will be. “

Assuming these two guys continue their utter dominance i think this fight is a sure thing. GSP sounds a little evasive and less than eager as he usually does when discussing this topic, but it's about the same tone he took leading up to the second Penn fight. I think it's just how his personality is, and i think he wants this fight. You can tell he has put a lot of thought into it and has a detailed plan on how to approach the whole situation.

Personally, I really want to see this fight. It's a privilege to see P4P kings go at it.

Dana said it himself....when he gets the thumbs up in T dot then hes having the GSP vs The Spider to main event it. Can't wait to see it happen.

I'm sure if it could happen, St. Pierre will not let the opportunity pass. The 'evasiveness' is based on the fact that size and weight are very important considerations. This isn't just a token performance. If he goes out there, he'd wanna be in top shape first. It's a big leap to make.

It would be a great fight, though I am not sure its best to do it at 185 and "Anderson Silva's Home", since its not just GSP that should want to do it for the super fight, and its a win win for the UFC in terms of sales and so on.

I think a catch weight would be the way to go, 178-180, where Anderson has to cut a little more, and GSP, who clearly will do it the "proper way" doesn't have to mess up his year going up with weight/size/muscle then back down.

Though, if this fight happens at 185, GSP does the get to 200 to cut down to 185, and win's, do you think he may consider staying at 185?

Wow, that would be amazing. If GSP can still have his amazing top control and base at 185, he has a good chance of taking out Silva.

^ You got a thing against T.O.?

Financially it makes sense for the UFC, for GSP and for his fans of which majority are canadians anyways.

NO, don't be stupid like that. If a GSP/Anderson fight happened in Toronto and went to the judges it would be like a Bisping fight in England if it went to the judges. Which means they would favor the home town fighter.

Judges don't make their decisions based on their current location in the world. The bisping/hamill fight came to that **** decision due to bad judging but not biased judging. Otherwise I couldn't consider the UFC to be a legitimate organization like Proelite or some Japanese orgs.

I guess you could make the argument that the crowd can sway the judges, but to say the judges are out and out biased is just wrong.

Didn't the one British judge in the Bisping-Hamill fight actually score the fight for Hamill?

and anyways, the UFC doesn't pay or make rules for the judges but a sanctioned sports authority like NSAC. Which goes to another issue of how screwed up Ontario's sanctioning body is. THeir administrator apparantly is on record saying there will never be MMA in ontario while he's still around.

I agree that it is a bad idea. A super fight like this should be held in a neutral location.
