Nah, he doesn't have to "earn" anything per se, all he needs to do is win a few more fights that will put him on the map and the UFC will take him in. With Dana White at the helm, I wouldn't doubt it. That guy is literally all about the money, and if it gets him ratings and his big payday, he will jump on it. Brock pounded out some creampuff named Min Soo Kim, lost his first fight in the UFC, beat up Herring afterwards and then he got a date with Couture for the belt. That isn't exactly standard process to a title shot, but hey, whatever works.

Did A Silva earn it after beating Leben? Did Rampage earn it after beating Marvin Eastman?

Lashley just took Sapp down with easy and pounded him out on the first round. There is something sad about watching a 350 lb. man tap out to strikes.

Lashley is legit and hopefully his next fight is against a tougher test.

I want the UFC to bring him in. Don't give him any special treatment, but let him have a shot against some of the lower tiered guys.
The reason they haven't, or will hesitate is because they don't want to make it appear like a pro wrestling circuit.

Bob Sapp isn't the best fighter in the world, but you aren't going to beat him unless you have some skills.

Lashley at least proved that it isn't just his size/strength advantage that is getting him by. And even if it is, if you can use that against Bob Sapp, who else is really going to stop you?

He's obviously still got some work to do, but he has a strong wrestling base, great athleticism, a strong work ethic, and he's at a great camp to help him put it all together.

I'll be interested to see who his next opponent is, and I bet it will be soon.

It would have to be soon. He's 32. He needs as much experience as quickly as possible.
He's still super Raw. He couldn't/didn't pass Sapps guard...it wasn't a great fight, just a lot of ground and pound. But a win is a win.

I was thinking that myself when watching the Sapp fight.

I am still impressed with the guy. He keeps on fighting, using these fights as part of his training and development, and is very focus'd it seems, fighting so often. He'll keep developing, and we'll see what happens, I think he could be a solid HW.

I say Lashley will be in the UFC faster then we all think. Maybe after another couple fights.
