I know most people will vote for UFC 100, but my vote when to The Death of Charles " Mask " Lewis co-founder of Tapout. I was watching the Tapout shows they had on Versus where he and the tapout crew would go out and scout fighters. One episode they were scouting Joe Lauzon's lil bro Dan. Mask seemed like a real cool nice guy, who was genuine. It's unfortunate he died tragically.

I voted for the rise of Strikeforce, because it's probably the most important story of the year, but in terms of a story that broke and had me following intensely, it was the Rampage "retirement."

I think the sort of "popular" in terms of publicity could either be Lesnar's health, Rampage quitting or Kimbo on TUF/UFC.

But I think the most important and on going story has been the rise of Strikeforce. We are getting what looks like a stable competitor, or rather alternative organisation that can help spread MMA. Not to mention its stories of the likes of getting Fedor and Hendo, and some big fighters coming back and so on and so forth - cross promotions with Dream and M1 - theres a lot that has been covered with it. And the whole female MMA rise with it as well.

I am surprised that the Death of Affliction was left off the list, I certainly would have considered it a runner in the "Story of the Year" especially given the ties to the UFC, the Trilogy saga, Barnett/Fedor, Fedor to UFC/Strikeforce battle that ensued and the likes - there was a lot of drama around it. I think short list worthy, though probably not a winner.

Well i voted for Brock's health, but really i wanted to to vote for his health issues leading the way along with the huge swath of other cut down UFC fighters. All those injuries deprived us of so many great match ups. Along with Rampage growing a Mohawk and pittin' fools. I would have lumped those three into one big story.

I go with the rise of Strikeforce, no one has even came close to touching the UFC since the Pride days but SF has the p4p best in the world and a awsome roster that is only getting better. I also like the match making, and having a womens division. Looks like 2010 is going to be huge for SF.

Strikeforce on Showtime has been the most important thing in MMA in my opinion.

I got Showtime for the SuperSix and was pleasantly surprised with the MMA action that they have been able to produce.

It isn't 3rd rate nor 2nd rate... Granted they aren't the creme of the crop but they are filling a void that has been long unaddressed.

I have to give props to Ken Hershman for backing up MMA...
