Dana White: Brock Lesnar Press Conference in Las Vegas Next Week

(cool stuff about the Abu Dhabi company's 10% purchase of the UFC too, and they're going to build a arena just for the UFC)

Lesnar confirms title defence

http://www.sportsnet.ca/mma/2010/01/20/ ... e_defence/

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar announced his "miracle" recovery from a career-threatening digestive disease Wednesday while slamming the health care he received in Canada after falling sick during a hunting trip.

Lesnar said his U.S. doctors were "dumbfounded" at his success in beating diverticulosis and avoiding major surgery to remove part of his colon

"They couldn't find any signs of any problem in my stomach. It's just a miracle," the mixed martial arts star said Wednesday on ESPN's SportsCenter in his first interview since falling ill.

UFC president Dana White said Lesnar, who has not fought since July, will be back in action this summer against the winner of the UFC 111 bout in March between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.

Video tells you everything. Seems like a miracle that Brock is back. Dana also if Mir/Carwin can't happen for any reason then the winner of Nog/Velasquez will face Brock in the summer.

Rumor is Brock may fight at UFC 114 in late May. If true, then the next 5 cards after 109 may be the best string of cards ever.

110- Nog/Velasquez, Bisping/Wanderlei, Cro Cop/Rothwell
111- GSP/Hardy, Mir/Carwin, Alves/Fitch
112- aSilva/Belfort, Penn/Edgar, Hughes/Gracie
113- Machida/Shogun, Koscheck/Daley
114- Lesnar vs ?, Rampage/Evans

Plus there is the Fedor event in April, some solid UFN cards, and other SF events. The first half of '10 looks great on paper.

However I realize inuries always happen and guys have to pull out of events.

Pointless to do an interim then, right?

It kind of is, but the decision was probably made before there was a clear answer about Brock. Also, you have to factor in Carwin. The guy was promised a titleshot and he's had a LONG layoff. I'm kind of disappointed because I think Mir will defeat Carwin and I want to see Brock face other HW's before facing Mir again.

True enough. Main downside to this interim.

I think the plan was for the winner of Mir/Carwin to face the winner of Nog/Cain, but Brock came back faster than expected.

I want Brock to put someone in a headlock. Like back in public school days

dana and all his fancy fighters and fancy moves are getting full of themselves. Brock remind them to keep it real

If the UFC doesn't want the winner of Mir/Carwin to fight Brock right away, it won't happen.

I know the circumstances were different, but have we forgotten about the Lesnar vs. Couture, Mir vs. Nog situation already?

They will make something up in order to sell Brock vs. the winner of Nog/Cain.

This all being said, there is probably more money in a Brock vs. Mir/Carwin fight than there is in a Brock vs. Nog/Cain fight, so they might just go ahead with that first.
