Vancouver is on the verge of losing UFC 115

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:57 pm

The mixed-martial arts event was slated for June 12 at GM Place but bureaucratic red tape surrounding insurance and other matters has forced the world’s largest fight promotion to look at moving the fight out of Vancouver.

Some reports say the fight may move to Cincinnati. There is also a slim chance the fight could move to Calgary where Zuffa LLC — the UFC’s parent company — has been looking to book a fight for its World Extreme Cagefighting promotion for June 20.

A source close to the UFC says the last minute problems have the promotion worried whether all its indemnification requirements will be filled in time to host the June show in Vancouver.

UFC president Dana White and vice-president of regulatory affairs Marc Ratner are refusing to comment on the matter and sources say the UFC is preparing to release more information on the fate of UFC 115 in the coming days.

That would seriously blow for Canadian mma fans. There are also rumors that Liddell will fight Couture at UFC 116 in July, along with Carwin/Brock and Sexyama/Wand. If true wtf happens with this card?

They are trying to move it to Cincinnati because Liddell will be fighting Rich Franklin in the main event.

Entertaining match up of 2 legends, but Dana needs to bring more than that to the table. Wand/Chuck/Tito/Couture/Franklin/Hughes should NEVER again headline a card. I appreciate all the wars they have been through for our entertainment but these cats have had it. No disrespect they all are HOF'ers.

I agree, but it's the TUF coaches fight. They can always get a solid PPV buy out of that one, so they'll save the bigger main events for a bigger show.

Yeah, that's great news.

Good fight, and it's just good to know Alves is healthy enough to be booked for a fight that soon.

This is shaping up to be one of those cards with a weak main event, but is 5/6 fights deep (if not more....even some of the prelims look good) with interesting, competitive matchups.
