It will be interesting to see what options are next for Fedor and Strikeforce.

-Rematch with Werdum. Werdum was very adamant hat he wanted to have a rematch with Fedor, and Fedor said he wanted a rematch. While it's not fair to Overeem who should be fighting Werdum, Strikeforce will not be able to sell a PPV with Overeem and Werdum. They wanted to see Fedor beat Werdum in the first place so Fedor could have fought Overeem. If Fedor wins in a rematch then Fedor/Overeem would lose a little luster, but it could still do well viewership/PPV wise.

-Antonio Silva. He lost to Werdum but beat Arlovski pretty convincingly. The best available HW in SF. If Fedor wins maybe he gets a title shot versus the winner of Overeem and Werdum.

-Josh Barnett in a SF/Dream co-promotion in Japan.

That was amateur hour. He clearly underestimated his opponent and gave him no respect.

I like Cung Le. Wonder how he would fare in the UFC.

Not well IMO. All that flashy kicks and stuff will not work in the UFC. For one, the UFC will not only feed him strikers, and even if they did, the elite ones would own him.

Le is flashy and fun to watch, but he is not elite.

How are those flashy kicks? Those are your basic kicks that all MMA fighters use. Roundhouse kicks and back kicks. Cung Le's got a TKD background, but he's not going to be throwing spinning crescent kicks and flying sidekicks. He uses your basic kicks which I think are way more effective than punches if you have good technique. You just don't see it often because everyone in the UFC is a wrestler, BJJ black belt or a brawler. These guys don't have the proper technique to use these kicks effectively.

Cung Le started his MMA career a little late so who knows how well he'd do at 38. Cung Le also seems to have a weak chin as well. He almost never got hit in his other fights before he faced Scott Smith so you couldn't tell if he could take hits, but he got dropped by Scott Smith in one punch. He's a great striker though. He's the best kicker in MMA in my opinion.

not in this fight, there was no flash.

he didn't throw a single front kick, side kick...nothing. there was a Thai headkick, an inside leg kick and a couple spinning back kicks...one of which landed for a KO.

granted, in every previous he's thrown a lot of flash.

also: his timing and explosiveness on the sprawl was crazy, even if the shot didn't have a chance.

Cung Le is fun to watch, but he's garbage.

He would get eliminated in the first round of the Strikeforce MW tournament, which is why he wants no part of it. Keep giving him B class strikers like Smith so he can look good and get movie roles.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if his next fight is a rubber match with Smith.

I totally disagree. Joe Doerkson is a complete fighter, and got demolished by Lee. Shamrock too. You don't think he's a top 8 MW in SF?

Shamrock was washed up and too brittle to wrestle. A healthy, prime Shamrock would have tooled Le. Doerkson has never fought Cung Le to my, or Sherdog's, knowledge.

Cung has been given hand picked opponents sure to stand in front of him and not hit him too hard. The UFC would not be so generous.

Little known fight between Le and Doerkson in my basement in 2008. Oh, no that was Tony Fryklund vs Le in SF. Fryklund's not the competition that Joe D is, I mixed them up.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

He would deserve to be in the tournament, so he's top 8, but he would get eliminated in the first round, because he's not top 4 or 5.

Hendo (if they keep him at MW, which would be dumb), Jacare, Lawler, Mayhem, Kennedy, and Prangley should all beat Le. Manhoef, Rockhold, and even Lindland would probably have decent shots.

Lindland looked like a beast in his last, no?

Hendo doesn't want to cut weight anymore, he said the other day. He'll be at 205.

Yeah, he likely stays at 205 and fights Babalu.
