He Looked like crap in his last fight. I'm interested to see how he does in Strikeforce. First opponent will be Evangelista Santos.

But he's no bum. He's a legitimate top 7 welterweight in the world that can't defend the takedown.

Which is kind of like being a top 10 bowler who can't move their arms. Useless.

No, he isn't.
He was on a hot streak, but he's really more in the 15-20 range.

This.
Daley is the kind of fighter you can make look great by handing him fights that keep it standing, but to do any real damage at 170, you will have to go through a murderers row of wrestlers like GSP, Fitch, Kos, Askren, Shields, Kampmann...
Those guys have/would handle Daley easily.

Well if their good fighters who are known to the common fight fan then why not? Daley was cut because he crossed a line not because he couldn't fight.

And Strikeforce is quickly becoming known as the Cincy Bengals of MMA. Has the UFC cut you because you broke rules or have an attitude problem? If so, Strikeforce is for you. Strikeforce clearly has learned nothing from what happened on their last CBS show. They are another black eye for MMA waiting to happen, but because they are circling the drain, they will take any desperate chance to cling to what they have.
Maybe soon we can see a 6 man cage match with Nick Diaz, Paul Daley, and Batista against Mayhem Miller, Herschel Walker, and Bobby Lashley. I know that is what I want to see out of the #2 MMA organization in America.

Re: Semtex signs with Strikeforce
Any day now we can expect them to sign the Dutch badboy of MMa Gilbert Yvel....oh wait.....he's with that other organization.
Compared to Yvel, Paul Daley looks like Gandhi.
Yvel has acquired, through a number of instances, a lingering reputation in the MMA community for his temper and poor sportsmanship in the ring earlier in his career.
[i]In his May 1998 bout with Karimula Barkalaev, Yvel was disqualified for biting his opponent (earning comparisons to the Tyson-Holyfield biting incident of 1997).
In his September 2001 match with Don Frye, Yvel repeatedly raked his fingers across Frye's face and pushed his thumb into Frye's eyes to avoid being wrestled to the mat. Yvel was disqualified in this match, as well, although the official reason given was for grabbing the ropes.
During Yvel's November 2004 match with Atte Backman, at one point, the referee separated the fighters, as they were falling over the ropes in a clinched position. Yvel refused the attempts by the referee to get the fighters to resume the clinched position away from ropes, swatting the referee's hand away when he attempted to guide the fighters back together. After a number of unsuccessful attempts to restart the fight in the clinched position, Yvel suddenly punched the referee in the head, dropping him to the canvas, and then kicked him while he was down. This was Yvel's 3rd disqualification in six years.
Compared to Yvel, Paul Daley looks like Gandhi.

Yvel was blackballed from th UFC for years. He had to spend 6 years proving he had cleaned up his act, Daley has been gone what? 2 months?

This I agree with. I'm also not a fan of the Diaz crew having as much pull as they do. You don't let morons in on your business. You exploit them, like Dana does.

Its still just one incident that pales in comparison to any one thing Yvel did.

Re: Semtex signs with Strikeforce
Strikeforce need's fighters. They don't have the luxury of time here, they're not established enough to take the moral high ground and pass on a fighter like Daley. They don't have the time to develop their own stars internally and build them up from within the promotion. Who cares if they have the reputation of taking the UFC's scraps, that's the only way they're going to get name fighters. This move isn't a hard one to comprehend, they're thinking short term.
And even though they said they wouldn't, don't be surprised if they sign Kimbo within the next year as well.

When does a WWE/TNA and UFC/Strikeforce comparison become relevant?

Strikeforce has done well building guys from scratch. Just look at Cung Le and Jake Shields. The problem is they care too much about the UFC's old toys that they forget to hype their own guys. That is why Shields, a Strikeforce built star walked on them. Because they had a hard on for Dan Henderson.
Strikeforce would be a lot better off taking all the hype they give guys like Walker and Lashey and giving it to guys like Del Rosario.

Re: Semtex signs with Strikeforce
Well if you want to Knitpick Paul Daley fought for Strikeforce 2x and the Strikeforce purchased Elite XC 1x b4 he ever fought for the UFC. Basically, they are just bringing back someone who has already fought for them. And like I said, Paul Daley is a top tier talent and the UFC didn't cut him because he sucked they cut him because he crossed a line.
I agree. Del Rosario, Lavar Johnson, Lyle Beerbohlm, Sarah Kaufman etc. should be getting a lot more of a push than they had been getting. But I don't think the problem with Lashley is that he's getting too much hype. The problem is that he's getting all the hype and fighting on the main card of big shows when he's fighting guys that are more in line with Strikeforce Challenger shows.

Yea they did a good job with those guys but the point remains that they don't have the time to spend years doing the same thing with new fighters now. I agree that they should have been hyping guys like Del Rosario from the start but they didn't, so now they need name fighters from wherever they can get them and fast.
