If you want to count Nog's victories against Lesnar and Nog, then you have to count his losses to Cruz, Freeman, and Vera.
You can explain two of those losses (and his less than impressive decision over Dan Christison) by referencing his accident, but then you should look at the circumstances in his biggest wins more closely. He arguably should have lost the first fight against Lesnar. If not for a bad standup and a rookie mistake, he would have been TKO'd for the 3rd time in 5 fights. As it stands, the one sided fight that was their rematch shows that the first Lesnar fight shouldn't count for all that much. As for Nog, I'm inclined to give him a little bit more credit for that one, as I believe it very well could play out the same way if they rematched today, but at the same time, Nog was not 100%, and even if he was, it wasn't exactly 2003.
Mir doesn't "suck," as he can clearly handle most non-elite UFC HWs with ease at this point in his career, and probably belongs somewhere near the back end of the top 10/15 in the world. However, I don't think he can be considered elite, either all-time or present day.
The fight with Nelson will actually show a lot.

I am actually looking forward to Mir vs. Nelson. Nelson had more than held his own against Mir in a BJJ match years ago and might have actually won. I don't remember clearly. Nelson has a cast iron chin (fat man literally ate everything JDS threw at him) and has a hell of a punch himself. I don't think you can favor Mir over Nelson at this point in their careers.
