Diaz is going to get beat into the ground. I hope he gets paid a good amount to be to boxing what James Toney was to MMA.

Re: Nick Diaz will face Jeff Lacey in a boxing match in the fall
Diaz has good reflexes and reach. He's going to have to really increase his work-rate, I think, ala Joe Calzaghe. Calzaghe used something like Diaz's slapping forearm punches in the boxing ring. Cos there's not going to be the slightest bit of power on his punches. If he tries to throw 30-40 of his punches a round, Lacy will eat him alive.
edit: come to think of it, I bet Diaz's team has scouted Lacy precisely because of his embarrassing loss to Calzaghe. I forgot about that. It was about as much of a schooling as you're going to see in a fight.

Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

".........unless the UFC offers up GSP."
That is a big part of the story and I still think Dana White offers it and we see that fight.

Exactly, no way he moves to boxing if he is offered a title shot with the UFC.

He will be getting 175K
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/5/7/215 ... nformation
"Nick Diaz will be making at least the $175,000 he made in his last MMA bout, possibly slightly more."
If they get Showtime to sign off on the site fee, it will be the biggest purse of his career... which is kinda amazing when you think of all the great fights Nick has produced over the years.
The actual fight...Lacy is shot. No speed, and he tore his left shoulder muscle a while back in a fight and has never been the same after that and the ugly beatdown that Calzaghe gave him.
He lost to a ham and egger/journeyman in his last fight and has not looked like a gatekeeper much less contender in about 5 years.
I think Diaz will still lose, but if he does win... it is more about Lacy's fall from the sport than it would be Diaz boxing accomplishment.

it wouldn't be crazy for the UFC to offer 200K to fight GSP. i mean he's the champion of another organization and has a pretty large following. there aren't many benefits for Nick to start a boxing career, except if he wants to get punched in the face more.
