Honestly, I hope I am wrong and you are right. The problem is that people like you and I who are excited about this are hardcore fans and were going to watch regardless.

I cant speak for everyone else but this will be one of the rare TUF seasons I watch... 100% due to the coach choices. The fights in TUF are always sub par and nowhere near professional MMA levels so the only way I can get entertainment out of TUF is shenanigans, piss in drinks and trash talking.

mayhem ftw!

+1. i want me some male soap opera watchin' :)

i haven't really watched TUF at all since the Kimbo season but i know i won't be missing this one

The only thing I worry about, is people who strictly watch UFC and no other MMA promotion at all, will see the ads for it and say "WTF is Mayhem Miller?" Granted, they will be plesantly suprised at how entertaining he is, but still.

Also, anything thing Bisping is a pretty steep UFC debut fight (essiantially) for Mayhem?

I wonder if they give Bisping a far superior team again this time to make him seem like less of a dbag because he's winning.

if you call yourself a "ufc fan" and you don't know mayhem then you're probably an ignorant, tapout wearing tool... aka a zuffa zombie 8-)

Relax.

I don't think it's that far fetched of a possibility. Even as far as fighters outside of the UFC, Mayhem hasn't really been in the most high profile fights.

People probably know him from Bully Beatdown, which is why he's getting the gig, but if somebody didn't watch Bully Beatdown, I wouldn't knock them for it.

I don't think someone only watching the UFC is necessarily a bad thing either. Among basketball fans, nobody gets knocked for not watching the NBDL or Euroleague. There are only so many hours in the day, and every sport needs some casual fans.

GSP and Diaz would of been more interesting.

This.

Outside of Bully Beatdown, Mayhem is not very well known, even by non-UFC fighter's standards.

You can't just discount bully beatdown though.

I bet more of my non mma fan friends know who mayhem is than fedor. easily. I'd venture that is commonplace.

Yep. The question is whether those people are going to watch TUF.

Can you imagine Coach Diaz dealing with one of his picks with pink toenails and constant homo-erotic jokes?
He'd eat the kid alive.

Also, although I love Georges, he's not the most interesting guy to watch on that show.

I think Diaz and GSP not doing this show is an advantage for Nick, because as we saw with Koschek,
Georges will let it bubble inside and then jab your eye so you cannot fight for another year.

That's kinda what I was saying though. It's not like knowing Mayhem from Bully Beatdown makes someone more of a real MMA fan. At the same time, if someone had never heard of Bully Beatdown, I wouldn't hold that against them either.

i think Euroleague is a poor analogy because it's not like these guys outside the ufc are all d-level fighters. my point was you can't call yourself a true mma fan if you don't know who mayhem is. i hate saying what defines a fan because that's kind of douchy, but he is a pretty big name. all fans should know mayhem, diaz, overeem, barnett, sergei, aoki, mousasi, alvarez, etc.

My basic point was that I'm sure there is a decent percentage of "UFC Fans" that don't know who Mayhem is. Just part of it. They probably watch every UFC PPV and Unleashed everyday but that's the extent of their MMA Fandom.
