In the end I could care less. I think he'll be back anyway.

If not, he can go fight Askren in bellator. Although admittedly I'd rather see him fight Lombard.

Marquardt should take his drug store to Bellator. There are some very interesting fights for him in Bellator. Be it Askren, Lombard, or even Hieron.

Was thinking about that on Saturday. Askren has been calling him out on twitter a lot since he was cut.

For good reason. Askren needs a high profile fight and he would likely maul Marquardt like Sonnen did.

Do I doubt that Nate could have also been using the TRT to gain a competitive advantage? No of course not, I think a lot of fighters do. Also to add to cbr's point, I agree that there are plenty of physicians out there who can be bought to get the prescription you want.

However from what I gathered during the interview, a commission-appointed endocrinologist was assigned to assess whether Nate met the requirements for TRT or not. I would assume that an endocrinologist assigned by the commission not be corrupt. He went off of the treatment for 8 weeks, took blood tests, the testosterone came back low, he was showing symptoms, was deemed eligible for TRT etc.. This all checks out IMO.

Where I agree it got very sketchy was when his family physician recommended the aggressive regimen, due to the fact he was three weeks out from the fight.. Here you can pin this on doctor incompetence, Nate cheating, or both. My thought was that if Nate was cheating and he knew very well what he was doing, why the hell wouldn't he have gotten that blood test done sooner?.. Either he's really an idiot, or he trusted his doctor and truly believed that the 'aggressive' route was the only way to get within therapeutic range. While his testosterone was high, he was apparently very close (and was well within range on fight day).

Overall reflecting back on the interview I agree that the latter portion of the story seems sketchy. Nonetheless, he could still of been innocent here. His low T is legit IMO and it could have been a situation where his doc truly goofed with the aggressive therapy (although I realize how naive this sounds as I type this, given his past history). You guys make good points in that if this happened to Sonnen the day before the Silva fight, he would have been cut as well.

I guess Nate's tears struck a cord with me.. I also just really dislike Dana and will jump at any opportunity to call him a jack ass.. He publicly defends Sonnen saying that he's repayed his debt to society, while he's 'personally disgusted' with Nate's actions? Yes the consequences of Nate's actions were more severe than Chaels, but the base accusation was the same (and let's not forget Sonnen's money laundering the fact that he actually lied to the commission). How is he going out of his way to defend one person while being disgusted with the other?

I'll come around and agree that Dana had the right to cut Nate due to the business ramifications, but I don't like how he tried to take the moral high ground with some of the comments he made regarding this situation.

Marquardt royally screwed over the card the day before the fight. That is why Dana is pissed, not because of some drug test.

Marquardt has a history of drug issues and now had another problem which cost the UFC it's main event on an important card for them because of the battle going on between the UFC and Spike. This live card had less viewers than Spike's re-air of an old Fight Night, and a giant chunk of the reason in Nate "only draw on the card" Marquardt being yanked from the main event.

Why can't the people comparing this to Sonnen seem to get that? Sonnen never cost the UFC any money and never screwed them over at the last minute. Sonnen might not be a good person, but he is not really getting any special treatment here. He is getting the same treatment that Leben, Sherk, and others who failed a drug test got.
