People would rather watch Chris Leben and Wanderlei Silva run to the center of the cage and exchange haymakers in a 30 second fight. That's fine. But that's not something boxing needs to emulate.

Of course not, the sweet science will always have a place.

But MMA is bringing in fans at a fast pace and boxers aren't doing as many commercials as we saw in the past, the GSP's and Bones Jones are though.

Do you see a time in the future when the average fight fan will look forward to a 15 round masterpiece?
(Are five rounds better than 15 round to the modern and much newer fight fans?)

There aren't 15 round fights anymore my friend... ever since Kim's death on CBS.

Right, 12. I actually never knew the name of the boxer, but I see it was Duk Koo Kim vs Ray Mancini in '82. Cheers.

I just think society as a whole doesn't have the attention span to get into those long fights.

I wasn't around for that fight, but most educated people would tell you that started a big black mark on the sport. It was yet another fight that resulted in another death on live tv. It was when that boxing was regulated to cable.

Anways I agree on your point. I am a hardcore boxing fan, hell I boxed as an amateur but some 12 round fights just drag on. I would be happier if some of the non title bouts would be 10 rounders instead of 12 for these meaningless NABO titles that are everywhere.

The thing is that there is still something special about having a championship level fight with two guys willing to throw down.... There is no shortage of fights that are made in the championship round 11 and 12th. The Vazquez/Marquez fights, Cotto/Margarito/ Marquez/Pacman, Taylor/Froch, I can go on and on... It is just that it takes a special type of fighters to put it all out there in the end. I think many fights in someway just want to go the distance and not get stopped... ala Rocky, but the thing is that Rocky gave it his all to make it in the end.

It isn't good when another fighter has to carry another fighter to the finish... I think Wald is given way too much hate for my taste, he does his job very well... the other guy has to be ready to engage... you can't win if you cant land a punch. Haye didn't have it in him to do what was needed to win. No one likes getting KO'ed but if you are talking the big talk... at least give us the impression that you are willing to go out on your shield.

I got what I expected so I can't say I was disappointed in the fight. The previous Haye fights against heavyweights (against vastly inferior ) made me think he would play it safe.

I don't see any good oppoenents for the brother. I think if Adamek fights either Klits, it will be a little more entertaining but very similar.

Adamek godbless him will go out on his shield... I have no idea how he boiled to make weight at 168 and 175.

His fight with Briggs were among the best action fights in recent memory. He was busted to hell and still let his hands go...

I guess I am basing my opinion on his fight with Arreola or other heavyweight. He's just not big enough to do what he did at light or cruiserweight.

the fight sucked but Haye was closer than a lot of people thought he would be. offhand I had Klistchko by like 5 rounds. the commentary bias towards the champ was on ufc levels.

So you had it 116-111,117-112 or something similar. So what rounds did you have Haye winning... Off hand you had him(Wald) nearly better than him on 3/4th of all rounds took place..

Not to blast you but a close fight is where you can buy the idea that the other guy did enough to win. Haye didn't even remotely do enough to that... Haye only had one round in twelve where he landed more than Wald...
