Haha Dana is such a douche. Can't stop talking about how Fedor hasn't won a fight in forever etc. when dude is trying to sell us two main events in less than 2 years featuring a guy who has one win since '06.

If Strikeforce plans on having Fedor fight ever again, it would be in Dana's best interest to STFU.

Most of us thought it was possible. You completely denied there was a chance of it.

Cos, you know, Fedor survived the beast that is Brett Rogers. Haha. You lose.

Meh. He's removed enough that the fight can still be hyped by SF. No one will be interviewing Dana for his thoughts on Fedor vs Jacare. And this will certainly help contract re-negotiations. I wonder how in the hell M-1 Global was still 'bringing us' that last event.

Brett Rodgers isn't a great fighter but he's big and he hits hard. Antonio Silva is big and he hits hard. Mirko Cro Cop was one of the most feared strikers in the heavyweight division. Andrei Arlovski has a really weak chin but he's big and he hits hard. Fedor took shots from these guys and didn't seem to be affected. He was visibly hurt by a punch maybe one time in his entire career. So yes I was proven wrong but so has was history. $hit happens. That's why they fight the fights.

 I don't think it is physically possible for Dana to keep his mouth shut. But Fedor still can be an asset to him. Before the Strikeforce deal, I could understand his desire to bash the competition, now? It makes little sense. Unless Fedor is indeed on his way out.

The details of his deal with Strikeforce and Showtime are sketchy.

I'd be surprised if Fedor wasn't gone. It is personal between Dana and M-1, and Fedor losing 3 times in a row may be the last straw. Unless the managers are suddenly much easier to get along with, but it seems unlikely, despite Fedor's position.

They should do a one fight deal before he retires. Fedor vs. Big Nog in the UFC.

There's no reason to keep Fedor around. Too much baggage, not enough recent wins.

He is still a name and there are still interesting fights for him if he wants to fight.

There is a cool article over at bloodyelbow.com about how Fedor may be forgotten with time. It is an interesting read.

but you also have to factor in how much fedor is getting paid versus the attention he brings. he doesn't have much leverage anymore with these losses.

I agree. He's going to have to take a huge pay cut (probably at least 60%) and M-1 will have to lose any co-promotional rights if they want Zuffa to even consider bringing him back.

Eh, forgotten is the wrong word. I expect that people will look back at Fedor the way a lot of people look at Bill Russell or any number of other all-time greats that did their damage during a different era. Sports evolve, we've yet to see the best Mixed Martial Artist of all-time.

I've been going through the list of Pride events that someone posted quite a long time ago on this forum and when Fedor or Crocop or Wanderlei are in action, it's a lot of fun to watch, but the sport is so different that I find it totally irrelevant to compare to the competition we see today, especially inside of the octagon. I do, however, try to appreciate what they were doing at the time. The whole Pride vibe has much more of a freakshow feel to it than today.

Have you gotten to Giant Silva chasing down that Japanese guy with a 2x4? That was the apex of Pride's freakshow greatness.

I never watched Pride, how much truth is there to Pride maybe being rigged? Guys taking cash to fall, etc?

Rampage is a jokester and I'm sure embellishes all the time, but I see no reason for him to lie about the Sakuraba fight.

Flat out fixed? We may never know. Special "incentives" offered for fights going a certain way? I believe it.

I think there certainly were instances where fights were fixed. I don't think there is any way Kazaushi Sakuraba earned a draw in his fight against Guy Metzger (the draw required another round to be fought) but then Ken Shamrock went on a roid rage and got Metzger DQ'ed.

There were definitely isolated instances of rigged fights (see Mark Coleman vs Takada), though it wasn't as rampant as some people would suggest. I definitely think the Japanese stars had an advantage, especially if the fight was close. The Saku-Mezger example was a good one.
