I think GSP has faced better competition. Not even TOO ridiculously close.

Silva is more talented though, and he can only beat the guys who are there for him to fight, so I don't hold it against him.

I gotta say one more thing to piss people off a little...I actually like Sherk and think he may be slightly under rated now with the way people speak of him.

He has 4 losses in his entire career, and they came by: Frankie Edgar, BJ Penn, GSP, Matt Hughes.
Three legends of the sports, considered as the best of their weight class (at the time for hughes) and the current champ.

If people consider Sonnen a top tier opponent for Silva, Sherk should be considered a big name win for GSP. His biggest wins may have come via Nick Diaz, and Florian but I think that's a similar tier of opponents as Okami and Nate within that division.

Ya, I think Silva is a freak on his feet and really good off his back. If you put him against anyone that isn't a world class wrestler, he will win...typically in devastating fashion.

GSP is an all around freak. He is the nearest thing to a complete fighter that we've seen. But he is susceptible to getting KTFO if the right punch lands.

Forrest...i'll give him credit for, but that is a tailor made opponent for him. I also think Forrest is over rated. I love the guy, but who has he beat other than Rampage (in a questionable decision) and Shogun who looked DOA. I actually think he's had a lack luster career in terms of impact names. Shogun was his second biggest win, but that was not shogun in that fight. He literally passed out in that fight. A healthy shogun destroyed forrest the other night, I think that was a better comparison of abilities and talents than the first fight.

Common HL, we can nit pick like that with almost every fighter. Should we lessen Shields and his win over Hendo because Dan looked like sh*t due to the weight cut? Or that Jake's looked absolutely terrible in his last two fights? What about Kos then? His biggest win is probably against Diego Sanchez in '07.. Then who else, Paul Daley or Rumble Johnson? How about the fact he got KTFO by a guy who's consistently fighting on under cards?

I'm not saying any of these guys (Kos, Shields etc) aren't elite, but what I'm saying is that you can play this game with almost every fighter.

True enough.

Side convo, would you rank as the bigger win:
GSP beating Hughes the first time
or
Silva beating Hendo

I think those are each fighters biggest wins, but still am undecided which I think is the bigger fight.

Since one was simply a title fight and the other unified the Pride & UFC Titles I would go with Silva v Hendo....As far as the Sonnen fight, am I the only one that thinks that Sonnen testing + for PED and Silva stated he was injured had a huge effect on the fight??

Read a rumor saying Tito/Shogun may be made for later on in the year.

Hope its not true, though.

I think that came from one of those TATAME articles where they speak to a Brazilian fighter's manager and it either gets translated wrong, or they say things they wouldn't say to US media.

A lot of it amounts to nothing (see Silva vs. Hendo on Fox) and I hope this is the same.

Shogun vs. Hendo makes way more sense. He's still fighting a legend (the supposed reasoning behind wanting to fight Tito), yet this fight is actually interesting and relevant. Rashad has the next title shot, and the following one should be up for grabs in a mini tournament involving Shogun, Hendo, Machida, and...Davis? I'm reluctant to throw Davis in that mix, but they were going to have him fight Rashad, so they aren't worried about him losing, and if he were to beat 2 of those 3 guys, he would definitely deserve a title shot. The Shogun vs. Hendo fight might be something they do in Japan if that rumoured February event is for real.

Tito can fight Franklin, Lil Nog, or someone like that, until they have an up and comer he's willing to face, or one of the above four need a bounce back fight.

I 100% agree. After destroying Forrest Griffin, Tito Ortiz represents a huge step back for Shogun. I would prefer to see him against Dan Henderson or Phil Davis (because if he can't beat Davis he probably wouldn't have much chance against Jon Jones in a rematch anyway).

You may very well be right cpt, I didn't read too much into the source, just the rumor itself from my cell. Thought I'd throw it out for discussion.

I along with the rest of MMA fans want to see a GSP vs Silva fight but I doubt it will happen.
