Surprised shields lost so easily considering his usual blanket style of fighting. Ellenberger still has to face 2+ top 5 ww though to be considered a contender. I don't give him that much credit for this win.

He needs to go to 185 and restart in the UFC, cause 170 is not a good look for him.

I picked against Shields in this fight, and I don't like him, but I still think he's good.

The guy loses to GSP (first guy to take a round in GSP's last 30+) and Ellenberger, after winning 15 or 16 in a row against some pretty decent competition, and now he sucks? He'll be better off at MW, but I still think he would have success against a lot of the contenders at WW. It's about matchups. MW doesn't have as many strong wrestlers as WW, and he won't have to put himself through tough weight cuts.

No, he sucked 3 years ago too. Not everyone was convinced by his winning streak. Doing nothing but match-up math while he was in SF, he seemed elite. But carefully watching him fight, it was clear he was not elite. I said it a hundred times.

Sucked is too strong a word, obviously, and he's worthy of crazy respect for his courageousness. But he's as one-dimensional as any current fighter in the sport. He's a terrible athlete on two feet. Terrible.

FWIW I'm not sure there is a worse matchup for Shields in the UFC than Ellenberger. I think Kos would be a tough matchup too, but Ellenberger was the worst.

I still kind of want to see Shields/Fitch.

Except Hendo was quite possibly compromised during that fight. His back, it had been reported prior to the fight, was messed up. You watch him on his back, he didn't even try to bridge, he was out of it.

lol, that part yeah. the whole he finished him here, so if he's better he'll do it earlier I didn't mean in a literal sense. I just wanted to use it as a starting point to say that GSP doesn't spend enough time game planning ways to finish a fight. It's like he puts himself there, but doesn't know what to do after. Like the Hardy fight (arm bar), the fight with Kosh(one eye), and with Shields(rocked him a few times). Just a frustrating guy to watch imo.
