I'd give Danzig a serious, serious chance in a fight with Gil. To my mind, Josh Thomson proved he's the top LW in Strikeforce. The second fight he was coming directly from a broken leg and a year+ lay-off. A championship, 5 round fight. And he did really well.

Kawajiri, Ishida...these are not UFC caliber LWs. The talent pool is much deeper in the UFC and also offers a much larger variety of backgrounds and well-rounded fighters.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Thomson? The same Thomson that lost to Melendez and "not UFC caliber" Kawajiri? Why? Because he kicks nice?

Ishida I'll give you, but Aoki is a pretty big win, and regardless of what you might think about Kawajiri, not many people blow him away like Melendez did. I don't think he would tear through the UFC, but he's better than B level.

Kawajiri laid and prayed Thomson to a UD from what I remember. It was totally unremarkable.

He does kick nice, yes...he's a martial artist.

Thomson's career is on the downward slope.

Yes, he did. So if Thomson can get LNP'd by non UFC caliber featherweights, what exactly is he supposed to do in the UFC's lightweight division?

I actually like Thomson and hope the UFC picks him up when this Strikeforce business is finished, but Melendez is a level above him.

I'm not trying to sell Thomson, I think he probably is on the downturn. I just think he made Gilbert look less impressive...even though Gil got the 2nd decision.
