In theory, yes, they're even. Gray was better for the first four rounds though, while Frankie was the better fighter for 7 of their last 8 rounds. If Maynard runs through everyone else, yeah, he needs to get a shot, no complaints there. With how stacked 155 is, I doubt they'll face eachother in a title situation again. At that point, would the fight make sense or have history behind it?

The reason why I am not interested in a rematch (at least atm) is twofold:

1) A finish is worth 10 times more than a decision in my eyes
2) The later rounds in the 3rd fight looked different than the later rounds in the second imo. Edgar's boxing was better and he was more elusive. Gray wasn't even really hitting Edgar then, whereas iirc the rounds in the 2nd fight were relatively close after the 1st round.

I said known with his opponents in mind. I'm sure he's fought at least 15 guys 4 times.

That's why I qualified my statement with the major orgs part.

Another way to look at it is that Maynard had two shots at the title and couldn't get it away from Edgar.

I guess Melendez/Masvidal is official.

Sort of a worst case scenario for Gil imo, he seemed excited at the prospects of immediately going to the ufc. I'm wondering if the next lw title fight will be decided by the performance given by either Bendo/Guida or Melendez. So Gil will probably have to put up a really solid performance (finish or dominating decision?) against a very game fighter. Masvidal is a tough guy whose game is probably bigger than his name, which could be a disadvantage for Gil.

That said, Shields got his shot after arguably getting defeated by Kampmann, and some people rank Gil at LW higher even than Shields was at WW at the time so who knows?

I heard on Mauro Ranallo's show that this event only did a buyrate of around 200,000.

Dave Meltzer has it at about 250,000.

How can this be true?
