Man, Anderson is my favourite fighter eve, but I am really unhappy with how this is being played out.
Nick Diaz? GSP?
But no Weidman? I mean, I think he needs another fight, but this guy is a stud and he may pose the biggest threat at 185 right now.
The sheer idiocy behind the reasoning why Anderson and Jones won't fight is insulting to fight fan's intelligence.
How did GSP get all this crap for not wanting to move up, while Silva ducks Jones, and asks for guys who he'll most likely murk. (GSP excluded.)
Man up, Andy, don't go out like this. Take the Jones fight.

Seriously. "To much to lose". Where GSP doesn't have anything to lose??

I have no issues with Anderson not wanting to fight Jones. The idiocy/hypocrisy comes in when you start talking about those guys having a lot to lose but then calling out GSP. GSP, if he moved to 185, would move up permanently, a lot to lose there, assuming he would vacate.

Absolutely. Moving up 20 pounds to face someone that dominant, at the end of your career? It's dumb. It's not an even playing-field. He shouldn't do it. I don't even want to see it. But that same logic holds for GSP moving up to face you, guy. It's transparent.

Re: UFC 148 (7/7): Silva/Sonnen II, Cruz out, Faber vs. TBA
IMHO this justifies all the trash talking that Sonnen has ever done. Silva is avoiding the number one contender because he doesn't think that the fight will make enough money. Sonnen got two title shots in part because of his trash talking, and his fight against Anderson broke the record for most money at a live gate. I still haven't seen the PPV numbers, but I'd be suprised if they didn't break records. Everything bad that Sonnen said about Silva put more money in Silva's pocket. Silva likes to troll in a subtle way and he was probably fine with it all along. Before the fight he's so pissed off that he hits Chael with a shoulder before the weigh in, and then after the fight he invites Chael to a come to his house and have a steak cooked by his wife.
Silva would probably prefer that Weidman started talking like Chael.

^^^PPV buys for 148 ranged from 900,000 to 1,050,000 from what I've seen. Anderson isn't really as big of a draw as you would think, given his legacy. Without Chael's trash talking the PPV buys would probably be cut in half.
On another note, not sure if Weidman really "earned" a title shot. He hasn't really beat anyone of note besides Maia (who is at WW now) and Mark Munoz, who I think has been overrated and a fringe top 10 MW.
That being said, I would love to Weidman get a chance because I love watching new young blood go for the title and he has the wrestling/grappling to potentially give Silva problems.
