I was stunned to see Herman clinching with Shields in the first. What was his goal? Like, seriously. There isn't a fighter in the ufc at any weight that should want to get Jake Shields on the ground. Not one. I truly believe that. Both because of Shields's grappling acumen as well as Shields's atrocious standup. Put 'em together.

I didn't think the fight was as bad as most people seemed to, though. Herman is a legit grappler, and he was handled pretty well on the ground.

One thing that occurred to me randomly: the biggest winner in this entire Edgar/Henderson deal is Gray Maynard.

He may all the sudden be a fight away.

I think at least two fights away, unless of course Cerrone/Pettis doesn't happen and he ends up fighting one of those two for the title shot.

I'd do Cerrone/Pettis for the shot following Diaz, and maybe Maynard/Lauzon for a spot in the following title eliminator against...I dunno, any decent LW coming off a win or two. Evan Dunham? The division is plenty deep, but the only other names I'm coming up with are like TJ Grant and Nurmagomedov. There are a lot of good guys coming off a loss though, so any of the Edgar, Guida, Guillard, Miller, Varner, Tibau group could be right back in there with a win.

Diego the Dream is dropping back down to LW (at least I think I heard that), and at least has the name value to be in a big fight. Maybe Eddie Alvarez is even in the picture by that point.

Well even two fights away is better than the limbo he was in as long as Edgar was champ (he wasn't getting that fight again anytime soon imho). That said, I think the picture at lw is very situational. If Diaz beats Bendo, thinks get real complicated. The ufc would have a hard time selling a Diaz/Cerrone fight so soon imo, as well as Diaz/Maynard 3 lol.

The dynamic would really change with Diaz as champ though.

Diaz/Cerrone might be a tough sell, since Diaz handled him fairly easily in a recent fight, but Diaz/Maynard, with Diaz as champ would probably do really well, at least as far as LW fights go.

And Diaz vs. Pettis would obviously be awesome.

Dana confirmed that:

1) Cerrone/Pettis is happening
2) It will be a #1 contender match
3) It may be on the next Fox card
4) It won't be the main event of the Fox card

Gray Maynard vs. fighter X should get the title shot after Cerrone/Pettis, but who the hell do you match him up with?

A 1 fight win streak over Jamie Varner gets him a title contender fight? It really should be Pettis vs. Maynard for the number one contender match.

Just wanted to correct myself:

Dana was referring to Rory/BJ (if it happens) not being the main event on Fox. He wasn't referring to Cerrone/Pettis there. Henderson/Diaz may actually be the main event on Fox. Dana said that fight might happen in 2012 and the Fox card is one of the only cards left that doesn't have a headliner (the New Years Eve card will likely feature JDS/Cain).

Can't go wrong with LWs on fox. Bring the action, and don't draw that well on ppvs.

I can see your point, but I think that there are a couple of key differences:

1.) Guida is ranked higher than Varner.
2.) Maynard's loss was in a title fight.
3.) That loss is the only one in Maynard's career.

I'm not saying Lauzon's resume is as good as Maynard's. I'm just saying Lauzon isn't an absurd comparison given we are talking about literally a fight to determine who the number two contender is. Neither Maynard nor his next opponent would likely get the next shot regardless.

I think Cerrone vs Diaz II would be a fine sell. It was so out of character for Cerrone and I think under/mispreperation and any grudge match with a Diaz will be fine.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Frankie won that fight.

Very strange Melvin clipping Cerrone and then letting him rest on the feet.

I think Diaz is a huge threat against Henderson.

That length and cardio/pace is going to be interesting.

Max Holloway blows my mind. Seen him fight three times and always forget, until Rogan says it 400 times, that this guy is just a kid. Hopefully they don't rush him along too much, but fun fighter to watch.

Cerrone/Pettis is a sick fight.

He's a very interesting prospect. He's got quick strikes and TDD that's extremely advanced for his age and experience level. He needs to work on scrambles and using techniques from the bottom to get back to his feet. Also should try to improve power in his hands... and I have concerns about his chin. It hasn't really been checked yet, but he doesn't look like the toughest guy. He'll probably settle into 155 at which point his grappling game needs to improve to compete. TDD is something special, though. Highly advanced.

Early reports say that UFC 150 only had 190k PPV buys.

There was some talk about a DirectTV malfunction, and the Olympics and all that, but it's still gotta be very disappointing.

No wonder the next LW title fight is on free TV.

LW is the best division in the sport, too bad their only draw is a semi-retired fighter who fancies himself a welterweight.
