And Martinez just didn't get caught, he barely survived that 12th round. Of course that doesn't negate what he did in the previous 11 rounds, but that also doesn't change the fact that Chavez nearly pulled off a monster upset. Martinez was seriously hurt in that final round and got hit with some really hard bombs. This just wasn't a mere knock down. The man nearly lost it all after a near flawless performance.

And why would Chavez be scared to let his hands go in a second fight? Especially when he proved to himself that he could seriously hurt Martinez when he actually does. IMO, I think that 12th round can only help Chavez's confidence going into a second fight. He might actually come out more aggressive and attack instead of waiting for that opportune moment.

He got right back up and traded with Chavez and didn't even hold. In fact he did that the whole night as soon as Chavez started landing.

Martinez is going to do whatever lands him the biggest check IMO ... so he might fight Chavez again and beat him down for a second time. But Chavez got exposed big time with his only attribute being his size ... he looked like a LHW or a Cruiser against Martinez.

Yep, I think we'll see a rematch. Makes too much sense for both guys money wise. Sergio is 37 and who knows how his knee is going to respond. It's basically the biggest fight Chavez can do right now as well.

I want to see it. Sergio is my favorite fighter right now and any fight in which Chavez gets his ass beat down is a fight I'd want to see. Seriously, if Sergio didn't get cocky he would have pitched a shutout on 2 cards. I really wish I put some money on Martinez. Such an obvious talent mismatch.

Also, good, expected win by Canelo. Offensive stud. I'd like to see Cotto next.

That fact that he didn't hold to survive goes back to my point about Martinez being a gamer. He's not the type to run away from getting hit. And if he gets hit with another big bomb in a second fight, his competitiveness might get the best of him. Like I said, it's not a foregone conclusion that Martinez goes unscathed and dominates in a rematch.

And exposed has to be one of the most overused terms in boxing. Any knowledgeable boxing fan knew what Chavez was all about. He's a guy that used his size to his advantage on the night of the fight. He'a come forward brawler that likes to exchange. He doesn't have elite skills, but has the ability to change the momentum of fight with his power. Perhaps if he takes his training seriously and lets his hands go from the start(which I suspect he will), he might have a chance to upset Martinez in a rematch.

So this guy thought he can train when he wanted, stiff his trainer, sleep until 6:00PM everyday, barely work hard, and think he could beat a pound for pound world class fighter O.o He was definitely smoking something. Suddenly it all makes sense LMAO.

Ungh... the kid needs to grow the hell up. Someone needs to smack some sense into this spoiled brat.

First a DUI, then an undisciplined training camp, lack of discipline and now this.

No

I'd say he took diuretics to make weight ... and they can be used as masking agents

he came in nearly cruiser weight size on fight night
