Sweet. Dana really believes in Ronda, man.

I personally wouldn't order it, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't super curious as to how it will do.

I don't buy PPVs anyway, but I'll not buy the hell out of that one.

If this goes through it will fail spectacularly. I'm not seeing any of the hype around Rousey that Dana sees. She's done a few interviews, but I'm not seeing anything substantial about her except through MMA sources, certainly nothing that would make a non-MMA fan notice. We know that MMA fans are divided on WMMA... why would you put on an event that only appeals to a portion of your sport's core audience and may turn away the rest?

I just think Dana needs to slow the **** down and incorporate it slowly. You can't expect solid numbers from a PPV card that's going to have a main event Rousey fight, a contender fight to set up an opponent for the winner of the Rousey fight, and probably one prelim fight... so like 25% of the card being WMMA is very ambitious for a PPV offering. And it's going to piss off a whole lot of people.

When this was announced, I thought there would be a lot of negativity toward it. But it seems to me that a lot of media, message board participants, hardcore fans, etc. were actually cool with the idea. I'm just curious if those people put their money where their mouths are when the ppvs come. Considering the numbers some of the best fighters in the ufc pull these days, I'm skeptical any female mma match could do well as a headlining fight.

Dana's hard-on for Rousey could really come back to bite them. I'm not exactly a connoisseur of WMMA but I know who most of them are, the only fight I'd care about in any capacity is Rousey vs Cyborg, but that's not going to happen because of the weight classes so there's nothing there for me. Dana probably thinks if Rousey just destroys everyone they put in her path people will see her as the Anderson Silva/Jon Jones of WMMA, but I think the audience in general would be smart enough to notice that her opposition largely sucks

I agree. Like a year or less ago, Dana literally said women would "never" fight in the ufc. Now the ufc has a woman's division, all because of Rousey. Literally nothing else has changed about wmma except for Rousey, and it seems shortsighted to bring in an entire division based on one fighter. Its clearly all about Ronda too. Dana's taken the girl on a few dates, he was cryptically saying awhile back "there's just something about Ronda..." etc. This is a few months after her manager essentially said she'd only be in the game for a few years.

It would be awkward if she like accepted a movie role, or got ktfo then retired, and the ufc would have to market a division around like Sarah Kaufman or something.

I just hope some Gabriel Gonzaga looking she-beast comes along, steamrolls Rousey then leaves Dana having to promote some hairy Hungarian woman as the UFC womens champion
