Nick Diaz is trash! If he wasn't such a great trash talker people wouldn't be as interested in this fight
You guys can say what you want about Hendricks, but he's won his last couple fights by KO's against top contenders and that's all that should matter! Let Diaz prove he's worthy by fighting a Fitch and/or Kampmann before he gets a title shot.

At 152, I was in the low golds. Me and my buddy sitting and all of a sudden, the empty seat in front of us is filled by a guy who i would say is the spitting image of Chet from "Weird Science".
K, so this guy gets there about 8:25, main card goes live at 10.
Tapout shirt. Blue lighting. Sits down, does neck crane, mean muggs ery'one in the zone.
This guy proceeds to start standing up for Buffer's intros and doing jaw stretches, cage struts in the aisle, and if i wasn't so high, I would've sworn this guy was going to glove-tap the beer vendor.
He spent the entire Hamill figth yelling, "Knock that f'cker out!"
Including during rounds.
He was that guy.
Best part. He was in the aisle seat. A father and son have to get out, and Dad asks, "Can I get by?"
The dude, without taking his eyes off the cage, rudely snarks, "Go", gestures and then does a Wandy-esque hand roll.
I spent half the card watching him and being entertained.
UFC events bring out the l.c.d.
I lie to most of my friends and pretend I am not really a fan.......lol/

Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Re: UFC to make Diaz/GSP
Diaz is far more worthy than Hendricks, plus a GSP/Diaz fight was already planned. Aside from a razor thin loss to Condit, Diaz hasn't lost in six years... 7 years, if you consider the fight with Noons was stopped on a cut. Arguments can be made that Hendricks has lost at least twice in the last three. Diaz is, at worst, the #3 WW in the world and people have wanted this fight for a very long time. I can understand not liking the guy's personality, but in no way is Diaz trash. He's one of the best fighters in the world and is definitely a worthy opponent for GSP.

Then he reminded me about Johny Hendricks, who I do feel deserves the shot more than Diaz. But the fact that I had to be reminded about Hendricks is probably the reason he's not getting the shot. Could have been just a brainfart, but he still doesn't stir up the same level of interest Diaz does.
The UFC is going after the big money fights from now on, and while sometimes it is going to yield fights like Jones/Sonnen and GSP/Diaz, sometimes those are the fights we want to see anyway, so I can't bash them too hard for it.
In defense of Hendricks' resume, while it's true he hasn't been "tested," I'm not sure how to fix that. He's been thrown in there with guys like Fitch, Koscheck, and Pierce, who are very hard to look good against, and won all 3 fights (albeit not so convincingly in the eyes of some). It's hard to fault him for knocking out a guy like Fitch too early, you know? And questionable decisions or not, who else are you picking to go through those guys and come out 3-0? Hell, Diaz would be lucky to get one win from that group.
Don't forget he just KO'd Kampmann.

Re: UFC to make Diaz/GSP
Really, for me, it boils down to this.
GSP is a legend in the sport, and the only publicly announced fight he has ever gone out and asked for is this fight. His entire career he has fought who has been put in front of him, and I'd argue he's had a more diverse range of fights than any other champion including Silva. Silva has pretty much decided who he was going to fight for years now, and it hasn't been a big deal.
GSP has brought in hundreds of millions of dollars and helped build/grow the sport. Give the guy one fight against arguably the #3 WW in the world. It isn't that crazy.
If Hendrix is worthy of a title shot, he'll get it after beating one more guy. When guys cry about not getting their shot ASAP it makes me question their belief in themselves.

Agree 100%.
Plus I have much much more interest in seeing GSP vs. Diaz than GSP vs. Hendrix. Sorry, Johnny.

Re: UFC to make Diaz/GSP
I'm a little disappointed that GSP-Silva isn't next. That's a great fight and I hope that we get to see it. GSP has mentioned that if he's going to fight Silva he'd just move up to MW permanently. Maybe he does that if Rory MacDonald becomes the number one contender?
I am excited for GSP-Diaz. GSP is going to take Diaz down, but Diaz is going to roll on the ground and threaten off of his back. IMHO Diaz beat Condit, which puts him at a 12 fight win streak and it would be a 17 fight win streak if not for the TKO and an overturned result based on Weed. Hendricks is arguably on a 1 fight win streak.
Hendricks has wrestling and KO power, but so does Koscheck, and GSP would either lay on him for 5 rounds or jab him for 5 rounds. The GSP-Diaz fight should be entertaining if GSP takes him down and we get to see Nick's BJJ. However, it's possible that GSP takes the Condit strategy for beating Diaz, and then we get a boring fight and all of Diaz's fanboys complaining that George is a pussy and that Nick is the real WW champion. Actually, that'll probably happen regardless.

Re: UFC to make Diaz/GSP
So we are mad at GSP for not moving up to fight a guy that can win at a weight class two divisions HIGHER than GSP, but not mad at Silva for avoiding the Jon Jones fight when Silva has won handily at 205 before? Makes plenty of sense.
GSP doesn't need to go anywhere. All his fights should be at 170, he's a victim of his own dominance. Silva on the other hand has the ability to take on other challenges, and he should, instead of trying to fight a guy WAY smaller than he is.

Re: UFC to make Diaz/GSP
To me Hendricks is a glorified Dan Hardy(but would prolly tap if put in an arm bar). It will be a boring fight. GSP will just take him down and tire him out in the first round. I don't really see why people would have interest in this fight.
Diaz fight is clearly the most exciting fight they can put out right now. Diaz can hold his own if GSP takes him down and I think he will put the most pressure on GSP out of all the guys he's faced so far.
They need to put this fight in the same card as Rory and Condit fight(if they make that happen)
I'd also rather see Rory face Hendricks than GSP vs Hendricks.

Some times you just want to see the most deserving guy get the fight. Following this strategy, you may occasionally get fights that people aren't AS interested in, but 95% of the time it leads you to the best matchups.

I just don't think losing a title eliminator and then getting suspended should be a way to get a title shot.

Re: UFC to make Diaz/GSP
I want to see Hendricks fight GSP, but I want Diaz first.
Put it this way, if GSP was signed to fight Hendrix and Diaz fought and lost in the meantime, how bummed would you be?

I'd way rather get GSP vs Diaz than Hendrix.
Hendrix has a nice thing going, but it's not like he's the name or has dominated a division like Diaz has (even if it was an inferior division).

That's the thing though, the inferior division part is kind of important.
Hendricks vs the likes of Cyborg, Scott Smith, Zaromskis, Sakurai...do those fights get sanctioned?
Kidding.

A fair point, but in Strikeforce, absolutely.
Nick has one way to win this fight.....some sort of insane sub off his back, timed perfectly as GSP is taking him down with a power double. I'm not joking.
I don't think he can do with Georges in top position, completely having his way with Diaz.
I am big Diaz mark, but that slapping won't work against GSP, who's jab would eat Diaz up.
Thing is, I also think this is a bad fight for GSP in that, he won't finish him.
He'll beat Nick up, mark him up very nicely, but he won't finish.
Meaning the trogs will say the same thing they always say about Georges to do him, that he does not finish fights.
