I think you go Overeem first because he beat Werdum, although that was Overroid then. Plus, Werdum isn't scheduled until June 8th! I'm really interested to see Werdum in there against top competition because he appears to have vastly improved his striking, but that could just be the opponents he's facing.

Yea, Testostereem can get his shot. I was more proposing Cain/Werdum for the stylistic matchup as opposed to who deserves it more. Love Werdum/Cain stylistically. Also hate how Werdum is tied up, he fought last in June or July, basically tied up a year for that silly show.

Going back to the Holloway-Garcia fight/scoring, I think people were influenced by Garcia's hiyas and Rogan's bias. Watch with the sound off. Holloway is landing repeatedly while Garcia is missing and grazing a good majority of the time. I'm not convinced Holloway was ever hurt. He was on his bike much of the fight Condit v. Diaz style because he wanted to be out of range. I never saw a wobble. Holloway won all 3 rounds, IMO. Thankfully 2 of the 3 judges got that right, and no fight was marred by a judging decision. But the individual judges who scored the fights 29-28 Pickett and 30-27 Mel should be banned.

Be happy you didn't get your media scorecard wish in this case.

I think Overeem beats Bigfoot, and sets a showdown with Cain. I think Overeem will be Cain's toughest test. Overeem has been training with world class wrestlers for years now, and his take down defense has greatly improved since his early fights in Pride. Cain will not take Reem down so easily like he did JDS. He is also a much bigger fighter than JDS and Cain (outweighing Cain by at least 20-25 pounds come fight night). Will be a great fight, but i see Overeem taking the belt from Cain.

Back from vacation, catching up on fights. What is Rogan talking about in this JDS/Cain fight? I'm 3 rounds in. 2nd round, "the fight was essentially over after that one big first punch", the "outcome is an eventuality"? JDS is battered but his punches are loose and explosive.

Wow, Jim Miller's aggression in that first round was amazing. Makes me want to be a better person. Beautiful combinations, vicious and fluid. His shoulders were huge too, he's clearly been working really, really hard. The world is the limit for this guy, he could be the champion some day. He was already known for being a strong dude. And, again, the fluidity of his strikes.

Feel bad for Boetsch. Three really unfortunate circumstances beyond his control - a headbutt creating that terrible cut, the broke hand, and that eyepoke. It really just can't be held as a fight that reflects anything about his actual fighting skill. I think he wins that one 4/5 times.

Leben needs to be cut and Brunson too. Embarrassing for the sport. No defensive movement or angles, no footwork, pushed punches.

reading the thread... JDS _did_ look skilled, IMO. he just lost his conditioning, for whatever reason. his boxing movement looked great. he fought a dude for 4.5 rounds stumbling around exhausted and nonetheless avoided most standing strikes and landed some really good shots of his own.

JDS had *this look* on his face after he got tagged by that punch, almost like he'd rather be baking a cake instead. He didn't fight like he had given up, though. Joe Rogan's an idiot sometimes.

Cain was obviously very impressive, but Joe was essentially rooting for him that entire fight with his nut hugging. It got tiring, and I like Rogan.

Wineland looked great. Rogan's out of his depth here condescending Wineland's boxing style. "As he matures...", "once he has to face the Renan Baraos..." blah, blah. Wineland keeps his hands closer to his hips cos he's qualitatively more advanced than someone on their 'first day of boxing class'. When Rogan claims he's "clipped", he's actually been able to roll out of the serious contact precisely because his shoulders are loose enough to do it.
