Invicta Thread

Post#1 » by Jasen777 » Tue Apr 9, 2013 10:51 pm

Enough interest here for an Invicta thread?

Invicta 5 saw a big upset with Michelle Waterson (AKA - the the Karate Hottie) taking the atomwieght title from Jessica Penne. Barb Honchak won the flywieght title. And Cristiane Santos had a very one-sided (tough to watch really) first round TKO victory over an over matched Fiona Muxlow. Some of the fights are on youtube.

Invicta 6 will be in July and headlined by Santos vs. Marloes Coenen.

I don't follow wmma really but I have to say that I take interest in this fight. Coenen has always been my favorite woman fighter for some reason and Cyborg my least favorite. Coenen just seems super professional and like a genuinely good person, while Cyborg is obviously a cheater.

I'm a big Invicta fan. Glad to see it finally get it's own thread.

I like their PPV model. I imagine UFC might consider something like that eventually for prelims, assuming the roster continues to get stacked.

Now they're operating on a standard cable PPV, with rumors they might move to Showtime.

Sooo I see Cyborg KOed Coenen. Anyone watch this or know how it went?

I admit, I don't really care about wmma, but if I did have a fav fighter from there it would be Coenen. And I absolutely loathe the cheater Guyborg, so this one hurts.

I have not gotten a chance to watch this yet, but I hear it was another solid night of fights for Invicta.

I only saw the last two rounds and it was a thumping, both in the 10-8 range. It made me wonder how Coenan survived the first two.

Like Cyborg or not, she is a monster. With or without the PEDs.

I'm not sure we can ever be sure we see anyone perform without them. I was going on the assumption that she is now fighting clean.

Meh, we can't be 100% certain about anyone (though there are a few guys I'd be floored about), but some people are a lot more obvious than others. Guyborg and Testostereem come to mind.

Do you think Rousey could armbar her?

She could, but I think more likely Cyborg would pound Rousey into the ground.

I would disagree with this if Rousey weren't so terrified of Cyborg. But she is, so I don't.

LOL. Rousey is great, but she has never been in with a monster like Cyborg.
