And he's a remarkably eloquent speaker for MMA. He can go off on tangents like no other in the media other than maybe Eugene Jackson. But Eugene goes off into his world for a while, when Breen gets back to the topic in a reasonable amount of time. Eugene certainly has a lot of stories in his arsenal though. You can tell he's done plenty of hallucinogens in his time.

He just has an insane memory. You could probably ask dude who fought in ufc 77 and he'd give you 5/6 of the prelim bouts and their winners. That said, he's right a lot I guess. I think, were he in our realgm pick'em pool, he'd probably finish top 5 on the regular, far from a lock to win though.

Breen is definitely knowledgeable, but I find him annoying at times. The Sherdog pre-event round tables and Beatdown After the Bell podcasts are still part of my complete event experience though.

Breen kind of approaches MMA like a hipster does music, fixed gear bikes, tank tops, or whatever they are super into. Yeah, they know a lot about the subject (too much?), but tend to talk down to the listener.

Maybe it's just his schtick and helps him separate himself from the rest of the MMA media, who are, for the most part, completely indistinguishable.

Pettis has a grade 2 lcl sprain (another one) + pcl strain (he gets very abnormal knee injuries). His projected return is 7-8 weeks. Rehab required, no surgery.

I think he could recover for UFC on Fox 9, Dec. 14. However, they'll probably do it in January or February, so Pettis can surely have a full camp.

I have to admit that I do find it refreshing that he is usually willing to call a spade a spade with mma. He calls out the ufc and Dana for their shenanigans when needed. Also thought it was hilarious that he refers to Vitor as "TRT Vitor" (I honestly thought that was a realgm exclusive since it isn't permitted to do that on other boards for "fighter bashing" since fighters post there). I haven't listened as much since sherdog got re-credentialed though. Also know Breen has been writing for ufc.com the last event or two. Hopefully he doesn't sell his soul like IMO Ariel has done. MMAHour is still by far the best mma podcast around due to the guests but the relationship is just too incestuous at this point with the fox employment connection that there is zero critique of zuffa decisions ever, and when callers/tweeters do so it is almost guaranteed that Ariel will jump in to defend the zuffa brass decisions. One thing I will give to Ariel is that he does seem anti trt and pro better fighter pay which he never states explicitly but does ask leading questions to fighters concerning those topics.

Aldo should just move already to LW and take on Pettis - there isn't anyone that can legitimately beat him in FW (Other than Pettis moving down). Lamas has little chance and Aldo already beat Mendes. I do think Mendes will be a tougher matchup for Aldo the 2nd time around. Swanson might be a matchup, but he lost to all these guys - Mendes,Aldo, and Lamas. If Pettis clears Grant (tight matchup) and Melendes after that, we have a superfight. I will take Pettis over Aldo if he is 100%
