You guys are getting too caught up with rankings. But, where a Shogun fight can be huge for Rumble is in the name value and the eyeballs it could bring as a main event. Regardless of ranking, Rumble beating Shogun is going to give him a bigger push than beating Glover.

Also, I think the UFC should not want to run the risk of Glover fighting someone so dangerous right off the title shot. And if he beats Rumble, you have killed a title contender without building one.

as much as i'm glad Rumble got in Davis' keister I don't think it automatically catapults him into contention, he's gonna need a victory over somebody relevant near the top that presents stylistic challenges for him before he gets a sniff of Bones.

As good as he looked against Davis he still looked like he kinda gassed or at least slowed enough to question whether he could go another 10 minutes.

But looking at the division it is pretty barren. Shogun makes sense in name value Cormier makes sense ranking wise especially since the rest are too high (Gustaffson) or teammates (even though i'd love to see him light Rashad Evans up) outside of that they aren't really left with options. As someone mentioned earlier they're killing the division by elevating guys to fast inro title shots, nothing they can do about the legitimate lack of depth in that division.

I just want to see interesting fights and tbh I'm not interested in seeing Shogun getting fed to Rumble just like I'm not interested in seeing Hendo post peds being fed to Cormier.

Something to do with how the weight divisions were measured back in the day? wins in the 185-205 era or something like that?

Yes, Ariel addressed this. I guess they didn't include Chuck's wins in that count either, which is where it got confusing.

I think you're getting too caught up with the UFC's business. I do it sometimes too. And for that reason I would totally understand if this is the fight that happens. But as a fan, you should want something better.

Aside from Gus and maybe Evans, these was least dominant fight by Jones ever. He clearly won, but just didnt finish or comletely dominate Glover. Maybe its because of his desire to fight in Glovers territory. I think Jones will dominate Gustaffson in 2nd fight because of preparation and mentality. Not so confidence about Cormier.
