Oh Jesus, Fabio Maldanodo in for JDS against Stipe!?? WTF? I don't think any other commission would even let that happen. Fabio should be fighting at MW.

Guy's too tough for his own good. He's sloppy as ****, preferring to eat shots so that he can remain relaxed and counter than defend properly. And evidently doesn't train in any disciplined manner. Now he's in against a HW on less than 4 wks notice???
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

He's flabby at lhw. Regardless of the outcome, this fight shouldn't have been made imo.

And Maia is fighting someone named Yakovlev? Cage Potato made a joke about how much this is like a Bellator event - with the tournament finals and Russian prospects. With the TUF fighters in though, that's probably an insult to Bellator.

I may throw a small wager on Maldanado. Brazilians do well in Brazil. Also, there is a size difference but I doubt Stipe is even that much bigger than Glover who Maldanado almost someway finished after an insane beating. He's like a 5:1 dog lol.

Or not, gahhhhhh.

Boring fight. What does a Maia win do? He can't beat the elite in the division. He's 36 years old and is 5-4 in his last 9 fights... His last submission was 5 fights ago and the last one before that was 15 fights ago and that was his 11th decision in his last 13... I just don't see the excitement that this guy brings to the table.

Warelly Alves was super impressive in that one, wow. Had that Brazilian aggressiveness, coupled with some in ring smarts, and a great game plan and what seemed like a pretty well rounded skill set. Able to secure the clinch at will, powerful striker, and puts him away with a sub. At 23 keep your eye on that guy.

Listening to mmahour. Luke Thomas with a great point as usual re: chael/vitor/wand drama.

Why the sudden shift on Belfort? Dana goes from saying Vitor "has work to do" to get back to fighting a few weeks ago, now Vitor is in a marquee slot on a ppv. Additionally, he's already ready? If he was going to be back and ready to fight again SO quickly, then how come he had to be pulled from the Weidman fight in the first place?

Finally, despite Dana saying the fight with Vitor/Chael would be at 185. Chael I guess reiterated the next day to the Brazilian media that the fight would be at 205, that the contract itself said 205. What a weird situation.

edit: More and more interesting stuff the mention that I didn't think about. Vitor never pulled out of the Weidman fight, the ufc apparently pulled him because they said he couldn't be ready in time coming off TRT. At the same time, Hendo just fought a few weeks ago coming off TRT after being on it against Shogun in March. wtf. And at the back of all this lies the mysterious drug tests of which the results were never released. His license application will be very, very interesting.

I'm guessing his license application is accompanied by a mystery briefcase. I heard that's how governments do things.

I can't remember if it was Ariel, Luke or Chuck Mindenhall, but one of them predicted that it would be a lot of bluster and blah blah blah but at the end of the day they hand him his license. Kind of like how the Overeem thing went down. Ariel made a great point that the ufc wouldn't be promoting this fight if they weren't very confident that it would be licensed.

It seems to be that Dana White and the UFC brass are way overstretched. Between all the TUFs, cards on every day, expanding in Asia, the Fox deal, sponsorships, dealing with fighters making mistakes, ect. They're overexpanded and they have to coordinate so many decisions a day with so many different organizations.

So the Wand thing goes down and Dana White says "**** it, we'll just have Vitor fight Chael and that'll be a big money fight. I don't care about what problems that causes and if the fight can't happen, we'll find someone else, but while they're asking me this in Germany I'll say Vitor is fighting Chael at 185 in order to get a lot of publicity. And I'm going to do everything in my power to make this fight happen, because I get paid to make the UFC money."

I'm not saying it didn't happen like that, but IF it did, then that is an extremely vast departure from the way they normally do things.

Yep. This weekend was proof of it, too.
