I'd try to just keep Faber busy with guys who have already challenged for the title or who aren't going to challenge for it. He'd wreck Assuncao, which may be fine, since he can actually get into a title shot with Cruz or Dillashaw and have it draw, but I just wouldn't do it because it's not like he needs to beat Assuncao to be credible.

Rory will probably get the next shot. Lombard has a fight, and there's no real need for them to fight each other as it is. Rory already took Woodley out of immediate contention, there's no point in eliminating either him or Lombard from the picture.

I agree with everything you said. From what i read- Assuncao is willing to wait to fight the winner of Cruz/Dillashaw. Guy already has made a strong case for the title as it is with 7 straight wins and already having a win against TJ. Rory will get the next shot, however, i was intrigued by a Lombard vs. Rory matchup. Lombard has a fight booked three months from now. I say the UFC jumped the gun a little by having Lombard fight Burkman a couple of days back, since they could have possibly booked Lombard against the Saffiedine/Rory winner last night if they had waited. Anyways- give Rory his shot, and if Lombard beats Burkman (which he should), he can be in the running for the title after that.

I know they're friends or whatever but I'd pay a lot to watch "Ruthless" x Lombard!

That sounds like a good explanation. They dove to get Lombard an opponent last week so that they didn't have to kill-off a contender with a Rory vs Hector match.

And Rory seems to have said no to a Lombard match previously.

I can't remember to whom it applies but of the three 170ers at ATT, at least two of them do not train together. Woodley and at least one of the other two stay at a distance.

It seems like Woodley keeps as much distance as possible between himself and Lombard at all times.
