I doubt it. If Conor vs. Aldo gets made, Edgar will be likely one fight away from getting another shot. I think he is fine at 145. Interesting fact is that Edgar stated last week, he is actually weighs about three pounds heavier on fight night fighting at 145 (158 pounds fight night), than at LW (he cut no weight for some fights). I like Edgar to stay at 145.

Frankly, after that performance on Saturday, i would actually give him the next shot at Aldo again, but since the UFC is about the cash, Conor will get it with a win. I would like to see a rematch with Aldo vs. Edgar. The first fight was a good one, and it was Frankie's first fight at 145. Now that he has some fights under his belt at 145, i think we will see a different Edgar against Aldo the next time they face.

Just an example: less in the spotlight, but Ricardo Lamas seems like a really good guy to me too, and Conor has went after him IIRC.

That said, I don't think Conor is scared of Edgar or something. I just don't think Dana wants Conor anywhere near him before he cashes in on Conor's title shot.

There's that too, I'd label this reason as #1 why they won't get paired off... all (reasonable) MMA guys say they respect all fighters for stepping in the cage and while that applies to Frankie the same as it does to Ricardo Lamas, Frankie's like BJ in that he deserves to have an asterisk next to his name for consistently fighting bigger guys. It would be hypocritical to praise the concept of being a pro MMAer and the toughness/dedication/respect involved and then crap on a guy who went above and beyond, continually testing himself when the majority of fighters worry about an ounce or two. **** talking Frankie would just be poor taste, even in jest, IMO. He's Rocky. Beat his ass first and then you can talk about how short he is or how he's one of those freaks with a first name for a surname (can you imagine?).

I've been pretty meh on Edgar lately. I thought he clearly lost to Aldo and was just alright against Oliveira. Cammo would have beat up BJ that night so meh to that and to his inactivity.

But man, what a beautiful display the other night against Cub. There would be no smack for Conor to even talk.

I might be the first guy to gas out before BJ does.

Frankie absolutely deserves another title shot. He just destroyed the #1 contender.

Also won the first fight, but it was relatively close, Frankie is on a 3 fight win streak, and he's looked better in all 5 rematches that he's had, against great fighters in BJ Penn, Gray Maynard, and Ben Henderson. Fine, don't count the last Penn fight. In his other 4 rematches he's looked better than the first time. Even if he doesn't beat Aldo, it should be a competitive fight. It's arguably the greatest LW of all time against the greatest FW of all time.

I will be disgusted if Aldo's next fight isn't against Frankie. Conor has a fight lined up against Siver.

EDIT: He just won 5 rounds against the #1 contender and finished him in the 5th, dominating him in all 3 aspects of MMA. How many of those rounds were 10-8? What else do you want from him? He doesn't get a rematch because he doesn't speak in an Irish accent? Have Conor fight in Ireland again in a fight that he'll win. If he keeps it up he'll get a fight eventually. He's young and Frankie is 33.

I don't think any of those rounds were 10-8, except maybe the 5th, but he got the finish. I agree with your point though.
