So less than $1m in disclosed pay and more than $5m is ppv poitns and discretionary bonuses? Wow!

I knew the top guys were well paid (not boxing levels obviously) but $6m is almost 8x his disclosed pay.

1) Can they do that? I guess they can, because they are, but wow.

2) $6 million?!? Either this event did way better than we may have guessed, or the top guys make way more than we think.

Is it confirmed 6 million USD? Also, I think Anderson is probably the highest paid guy in the sport currently. Didn't Rogan let it slip awhile back that GSP made 2 million on a recent fight? Also, remember the infamous meme when Machida offered to take a short notice fight against Rashad, but only if he got "Anderson Silva" money? And Dana vehemently refused. There is obviously a large discrepancy in Anderson and Machida's pay for example, and by that time he had already been champion with wins over guys like Rashad, Shogun, Tito, etc.

I just saw a documentary on weed on CNN. It says scientists have used weed to reverse brain damage in rats. Maybe in the future all UFC fighters will use weed to reverse brain damage from fights.

I remember reading somewhere GSP was making $4m in his last few fights.

It's all coming out of Brazil, so who knows. But the Bloody Elbow report is updated to reflect $6M USD, as they had previously reported $6M in Brazilian dollars, which would be about $2.17M US IIRC. That would seem more reasonable, so there's still a chance they are wrong, I guess.

GSP: MMA drug-testing system is flawed’

"I don’t want to talk about one individual, I want to talk about the system," he added. "The system is a big problem in the sport of mixed martial arts … It’s something that I believe the UFC and fighters should confront and deal with it. Because if you don’t deal with it right now, it’s going to get worse and worse and worse."

MMA needs to model itself after Olympic sports, he said.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/blogs/mma/forme ... is-flawed/

Dana White wouldn't be stupid and do Olympic style testing because a massive amount of fighters would fail drug tests and fights would be canceled before PPV's started.

What he says makes a ton of sense.

If they did Olympic style testing, you might catch a bunch of guys early on, but wouldn't it eventually achieve the goal of getting rid of or significantly reducing PED use?

It seems like right now they are doing it because they have to, or for PR reasons. GSP wants to see them do more, and I don't blame him.

What they should do to "ease" into Olympic style testing is to put a clause in all the contracts to say if they are caught for a PED, they lose their show money or something. Dana saves money by not having to pay for an significant increase in testing and he still gets his fights.

UFC is denying these reports, saying they aren't true.

I heard that 1/3 of all out of competition tests have led to dudes being popped.

Unreal.

I've been out of the loop on this, but apparently Anderson has failed an additional drug test? I saw a source that said it was the fight night test and one that said it hadn't been released yet?

I'm so out of the loop on what's happening with Silva. I thought he got popped in his 1st test, then he passed a 2nd test then he got popped again for a separate test then I read his team hasn't even asked for the B Sample to be tested.

I'm pretty sure that he popped in his first out of comp, passed his second out of comp, and then got popped for his post fight test. No idea of the status of his b-samples.

I'm assuming this means the fight will be moved to a no-contest?

No I read that but then checked and it looks like it hasn't, or at least hadn't by the time those initial reports surfaced that it was going to be overturned.
