I read your last sentence as you being upset with people trashing her now that she lost.

"I'm kind of surprised people are so willing to toss one of the most important athletes of our time--whether she was overrated or not--under the bus so quickly just because of a little bit of typical arrogance and douchyness."

I'm just saying that at least people care enough to throw her under the bus.

I suppose that's true. But I really didn't expect some of the sports writers to pile on also and try to diminish what she's done. You'd think they would look at things from a bigger picture instead of parroting people on social media, where the backlash is at least expected.

To be honest, I'm not even a Rousey fan either way. I can't say I cared whether she won or lost while I've been following her, and must admit to some amusement at the way she lost against Holm, even if I'm not emotionally attached to the outcome either way. But I have admired her impact and her willingness and eagerness to promote the sport, and I would have thought that was obvious to most people.

I'd put this to bed days ago.

So apparently Holly wants to fight again soon but Dana is making her wait until July until Ronda is healthy to fight again.

That would suck as champ to be forced to wait 8 months for a challenger.

It's B.S. that independent contractors can be forced into exclusivity by the UFC's market power. Is she wants to fight in 3 moths she should be able to fight elsewhere (and an ideal world). Of course if she could do that the UFC would give her Tate.

I mean she only gets paid (from the UFC I guess she'd get endorsements now) when she works. When I was a substitute teacher, if they didn't have work for me that day, there was nothing stopping me working somewhere else...

It is BS. It's BS that one of the few champions who want to stay active is not allowed. She's the champ, the UFC's job isn't to protect her or Ronda, their job is to give her fights when she wants a fight.

Dana's attitude towards Holm's manager is weird. He's been with her longer than Dana's been with UFC. He'll say that the Reebok deal is fair and equitable, but it's really about pushing aside the opinions of someone like Malki or Holm's manager. Money is about 10% of the reason that deal went through.

Also, these guys need to file a lawsuit before the statute of limitations comes up, which I think is two years for independent contractor.

I expect to see some work soon on this front, as Raven from WWE sued over the independent contractor clause and was supposedly going to get $200M, but ran out of time. WWE can't meet 16 of the 20 conditions for IC employment and UFC has to be very similar.
