If you have someone's back and they are going two on one and holding your choking arm for dear life, its the guy in the inferior position who is doing the stalling, so resetting is rewarding the staller.

Dana says Edgar gets the next title shot. For some reason I just can't see it happening. I think he has a better chance of fighting BJ Penn next. :)

Aldo would seem to be deserving of a rematch if he losses, by past precedents. And Maynard is dropping to 145, how about part 4?

Dana saying that the ref should have restarted it when Hall was on the back for the last 3 minutes.

Went how I expected, except I thought it would go until maybe the third. I don't think there's anything wrong with Chad directly, he's just getting outclassed by that top three ceiling he can't crack. Same boat Faber's in, so maybe there's some stalled development?

Frankie's power translates and he can finish FW's... 3 out of his last 4 are finishes. He's the best he's ever been.

Edgar might be the most underrated fighter in UFC history.

The first memory I have of Edgar was someone on here predicting him to beat Sherk and other people calling him crazy for it. He's had quite a career since then.

Some great stuff on this event.

Ferguson vs. Barboza was insane. May have been a better fit on the PPV than something like Maia/Nelson, but that could be great too. It just needs to be a higher profile fight, but that's tough this weekend. I'm all in on the Ferguson bandwagon. He does get hit, but I think his defense is good when it needs to be, if that makes sense. Ferguson vs. Pettis would be a lot of fun.

I actually enjoyed the TUF Final, and I think I'll be a fan of Ryan Hall going forward. I love to watch grappling when it's aggressive, but I don't know if there are enough LWs (or FW or BW if he ends up there) as bad as the TUF guys for him to go to work on. I'll be interested in his next fight at least.

Loved to see Edgar get that win. Mendes would still be competitive vs. Aldo, Conor, or Edgar, but I've kind of had enough of him for now. He can get back in the title picture in a year or two, but for now he should fight like Stephens (assuming loss), Swanson (not getting back in the title picture IMO) and then go from there.

Ferguson vs Barboza is an all-time classic. So rewatchable. The pressure he put on a punisher like that is incredible. With that short stance.

And Barboza going to the body with all those counter punches was beautiful.

Amazing amazing.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

The thing I didn't like about Ferguson vs. Barboza is the guy who did the illegal move that rocked his opponent ended up winning. It's hard to say how much of an impact that had on the fight.

Is it fair to say that Mendes can't win the big fights?

Yes and no. He's a tier behind all time greats. Aldo, MacGregor and Edgar are just that.

I think the truth was actually a lot closer to McCarthy's "you're not hurt" than Stann/Anik's hand-wringing and thank the sweet baby Jesus that Barboza can continue.

Barboza looked wobbled at first, but as soon as McCarthy said that, he seemed fine. It was an illegal blow, but I think it was supposed to be a push off more than a strike, and I don't think it had that much impact. I'm not the one taking it to the face, of course, so I could be wrong.

The fight goes down the exact same way without the illegal strike, IMO.

Does he forseably catch any of those guys though? Can he go down? Is it pointless to continue?

Maybe. Frankie's 35. Aldo's not right mentally (though there's no interest in another Chad/Aldo fight). And Conor's not long for 145.

I think Mendes needs to switch camps, mostly, but Father Time and Father (umm) Size, will take care of 2/3 of his opponents should Mendes build himself up over the next few years.

Just gotta wonder if his chin is shot. Hate asking that when the shots that took him out would have knocked most people out, but between those shots and the shot Aldo dropped him with after the bell in the fight before, it just seems like a lot of damage for a dude in a short amount of time.
